I was checking out the configurator on the SEAT website and noticed that ESP/EBA/Hill Hold and Tyre Pressure Monitor is now £50 on the Cupra  Has anyone else come across this? Would people order it without?

Its MY12 changes I believe and seems like more moneygrabbing by SEAT.

There have been a couple of threads on this recently but cant find the link (try searching MY12)

How can an option ESP/EBA/Hill Hold and Tyre Pressure Monitor be valued at £50, when ESP/EBA are safety features? Obviously a software tick somewhere on VAG and SEAT want £50 for it.

Interesting point, i've not got ESP/EBA on mine as it was a much more expensive option on the MY09 cars.
Why do you reckon it's a software enableable option?
When i got mine electric folding mirrors were a £50 option and they need a much more expensive unit than the standard ones (i presume working on the assumption that make it cheap to have them fitted and then charge them through the nose when they get damaged!)

Might be diffrent for evry country because here in Belgium that's still not the case.

i noticed this a couple of weeks ago,
FRill had just taken delivery of his MY12 FR and he has ESP+TPM+HillHold
unless his was built before the change, it seems strange....

It's just the hill-hold and TPM which cost the extra £50, the rest of the ESP package is either £295 or is included with the car.

Actually it's more inline with Skoda and VW and Audi. On the Polo TPM is optional for most models and AFAIK hill-hold isn't even an option. On the Fabia they aren't part of the standard ESP package you need to buy ESP Plus, or pay extra. Pretty sure they're optional on the A1 too, but then so are heated door mirrors!

These two options aren't quite software only; there is all the switch/wiring for the TPM and I believe it is licensed from some Swedish company. I think the hill-hold needs an inclinometer to determine that the car is on a slope which is probably not part of the standard ESP.

... Update
Yes
I just looked it up. Audi A1 brochure says:- Tyre pressure loss indicator £55. Audi hill-hold assist £65. So count yourselves lucky Ibizaites!

TBH I forget to reset the TPM every time I check my tyres - I check them weekly but thinking about it I've never pushed the TPM button since I've owned the car. I'll remember it now....

Hill hold is something else though - I can't imagine driving a DSG car without it. Even my previous manual gearbox Punto had this feature as standard!
