Update!!! But man, am I disappointed...

After a visit to my 2nd closest SEAT dealer, I have decided that the facelift Leon is NOT as pretty as the one I used to have. I dunno, but seeing the front end of the new Cupra that they had, it looked a bit squashed up round the fog lamp area, and the lower centre section on the bumper is now body colour rather than being black. It also had some silly looking vents under the "S" badge on the front grille. Ergh...

The inside was better. The updated climate control stack and Sat Nav unit looked pretty cool tho, and so is the new steering wheel design. They will do a new one with Xenons and Sat Nav + Bluetooth for a fraction over £20K (In Yellow).

They had very few detials on Cupra R spec tho, and could not tell me how much one was going to be. They would take a deposit to secure a build slot though, and then pick options on it once they have access to them. But given how the Cupra looks, I dont know...

Not all is lost, they had a choice of used cars too. They had K1's from £17,995 in white and also red. Both looked pretty with thier glossy black alloys on them :).

Actually, strike that. I REALLY liked the Red K1 with black alloys. What should I do???

Dpending on what you want to pay you could have the K1 kit fitted to a new Cupra as the bodykit is vailable for the FL Leon then choose the gloss black alloy wheel on the Cupra for £230. Seen an FR with it on and it did look nice although not my cup of tea. I actually prefer the FL Cupra/FR bumper to the old one but that's opinions for you just like bumholes everyone has one lol!!!

More food for thought......

Come on chaps, twist my arm here...

Any word on how much they cost, and can you have DSG on it? Can you also have a 4WD drive one like an S3 at last?

A 4wd conversion is a possibility on the cupra.

A guy I know has put a Haldex system from an A3 Quattro onto his Mk5 Gti, that has the same floorpan.
He said it was a doddle too. The propshaft went straight in meeting no obstacles, just the boot floor needed raising 3".
He has done this to other cars previously so it does require an experienced hand.

But a 4wd Cupra is deffinately a possibility !!!

have you got a name of the company that does this? If its a reasonable cost and its just as reliable as the s3 system, then I might do this and BT the cupra instead of sell it.

LOL - I don't think it's a "doddle" as you put it!

When I had the Cupra, I had Vagtech price up the conversion. Including parts and labour it was somewhere in the region of £4K. the list of parts needed to achieve it was also just as big. A few eye openers were things like needing a new fuel tank (the one on an S3 is a different shape)...

Despite the car having the same base as the Golf and A3, you will notice as I did when you look under a Leon, there's no clear line of sight from the gearbox to the rear axel. The basic shape of the car's underside can accomodate the driveshaft of course (It goes in the same area that the cat and exhaust to rear go, it's plenty wide enough), but SEAT shape verious other parts underdeath there because AWD is missing.

And I really am not joking here when I say the list of parts needed is well into the many hundreds. I made a post about it on here at the time, and went into a tad more detail (use the search!), but was not willing to spend that much cash on the conversion...

Especially as if you left the car as it was at 350BHP, it would go slower! You would have to add further power to compensate for the additional 120-150 KG of extra weight. Thats about the same as having 2 and a bit of me in the car constantly weighing it down.

No thanks... Prolly why no one has undertook this project. A LSD up the front will be much better IMO.

His words not mine

To someone with the experience it could be regarded as an easy job compared to some. It depends what sort of projects a company has tackled in the past I guess.

:) Another update!!!!

Subject to P/X price on the BMW (the dealer is stalling a bit on that atm), a Red K1 will be finding a home on my driveway. It's a tenner short of £20K, registered to 09 plates with 8 miles on the clock. It has Sat Nav, Bluetooth and black Alloy Wheels. Forgot to look or ask if the car had Xenon's fitted.

Price look about right, or should I ask for some more off?

For that money, I would be looking at a facelift Cupra and not a pre facelift model. I would also consider an Ed30/Pirelli Golf with DSG as they are faster with the same mods due to less time needed to change gear, and you get a nicer interior thrown in with the price.

That car has a bit of an identity crisis! Colour from a pile of bile, ST stripes, VXR exhaust, R Badges even though its not an R, and seat badges stitched in that would suit the likes of an Escort GTi better . £22k grand as well - they are optimistic, and the ad says that price is VAT qualifying too :wtf:!

I would order a new Cupra R over that if I was looking at buying another one. At least then it would merit the R badge and have some mechanical advantage over that ludicrously priced K1, and you wouldnt need to worry about finding some nice OEM bumpers to replace the halfrauds special K1 jobbies :clown:
