Time to vent!!! And a favour to ask

My car is now 1 year old, it went to the dealers on Friday for its first service, even though it’s only got 2800 mile on the clock. I booked this a month ago just to make sure that a courtesy car was available, ‘yep’ I’m told, ‘not a problem’ after this three days before it goes in I phone them again just to confirm the car is available, again told its not going to be a problem. Guess what happens, there are no cars for me when I turn up :censored: I get the sorry statement and they say they will do the car straight away and it will be the first car in there, so I sit for two hours I’m told that the rear washers aint working and that they will do them while I wait (I have never turned the wipers on in this car, its only used in the dry as a toy so I wouldn’t have a clue), OK, not a problem. I get the car back.

On my way home I stop off, walk away from the car and notice there are two of the bloody wheel nut covers missing! Back to the dealers I go, oops, sorry but we have none in stock we will order some, come back Tuesday, great I think, another trip here. Today I picked up my covers, and they got me the wrong bloody ones, they got me the ones for the locking wheel nuts!!!!! Has anyone got the right part number for these things, or better has anyone got any to sell or swap for locking wheel nut ones, I really cant be arsed to go back there to sort this out, this is my first experience with the dealer service and it stoops to the level I expected from reading this forum. I think the saying is ‘We set low standards and fail to achieve them’

To cap it off, yesterday I clean the car, look at the door sill and there is a scrape where I assume the plonker who was working on my car caught his foot and scuffed the paint (it should polish out) I now notice a chip on the wing mirror, a black dot with no paint attached, as I look around the door on the lower edge there is a f**kin small dent there aaaaaaaaAAAAHHHHHHH so now my first service is going to set me back another £80-£100 to sort this out. [:@]

I think its time to look at the Ford ASBO!!!!!!!

I had my service done today and had no problems, dropped it off at 9am asarranged with them and went to look around the town, got bored after an hour so went back to wait and i asked if they had a courtsey car (i was expecting no) but they did and let me go off in one

They asked if i wanted mine washed for free, didnt bother as most times they get it dirtier plus it was raning so will be dirty on way home, so all depends on where you go i think,

To be honest, you can't prove the paint damage or dent (since you didn't check the car the same day you picked it up) wasn't there or caused after. You said that "today" you cleaned the car. How long was it between picking it up and cleaning it did you notice the problems? It is your responsibility to check the car when you pick it up. The fact you said that it would cost you another 80-100 notes to sort this proves you can't prove they did the damage.

So, they ordered the wrong caps. Big deal! They are sorting it, are they not?

No car for you to lend? Well, why in hell did you offer to wait while it was done then! If they didn't have one for you, say you won't leave your car. Make sure they book it in proper!!!!! (oh yes, I can use multiple !'s too ya know!!!!!)

Oh and saying you are thinking about an "Abso". Wow man, because one bloke on the telly calls it that, it is suddenly cool to own an "Asbo". Yeah right, makes you look like a damn chav to be honest. Sell the R, get an "Asbo", I don't care! I respect ANY ST owner, but not an "Asbo" owner!!! (< see, more of them)

Stop bloody whinging!

Right, let’s see what its like when you get your car to the dealer and it comes back damaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know I cant prove it was them who damaged it, that’s why it will cost ME the money to fix it, not them, I know I should have checked the car but I had far too much to sort out on the day the car was in that I needed to get done.

Are they sorting the caps, no, because I told them as they handed them to me they were the wrong ones and they wouldn’t believe me, all I get is the attitude that 'Yeh, you customers don’t know anything'

The idea about booking the car in again is a no go because I'm going away for three weeks as of this Monday so the warrantee would be buggered if I waited.

Have a look around this site as to how many people (including the ones who have bought them) call the ST an ASBO.

As for 'Stop bloody whinging' I really cant wait to see your reaction if your dealer messes your car up, bear in mind, this thing has less that 3K on it and doesn’t even go out in the rain, I know my car and I know these marks weren’t on it the day before I took it there on (Thursday) and I noticed the chip on the wing mirror on Friday after I got it home, the dent I noticed Monday.

Any other questions, feel free to ask[:@]

Oh, thanks for your constructive comments :stick:

I'm with MikeDov on this one.

Its a shame that only a select few dealerships consider that there is more to representing a brand than just selling cars. The vast majority are trully awful. If i treated clients the way some treat customers then i'd be sacked.

I took my old cupra in 5 (or was it 6) times to get a leak fixed and the service was appalling.

''yes sir your car is ready to collect (no courtesy car)''...get down to the dealer...... ''no its fookin not coz its still p!ss wet through''!!!!!!

the final time seemed to cure it and i was so over the moon that i drove the car straight home without checking the bodywork, lo and behold, rear wheel arch been pushed in slightly. Now the problem is proving it. I agree it should be checked before you drive away but its not the point. And in all fairness unless you go around the car with someone from the dealer when you drop your car off to prove its immaculate, then if something does happen its usually just your word against theres.

You shouldnt have to take your car in with fault A only to have to return it with a dealer inflicted fault B!

To be honest, i know others may well have experience of different car dealerships, ford, vauxhall, etc but seat dealers are a major reason why i would seriously consider a different brand in the future. Except IMG in my neck of the woods, who seem to do a decent job, at least with parts!

A warranty is kept up by fitting OE Seat parts at service times etc, so why dont people take their cars somewhere else....... I have never had a problem at Hobins, but if I had, it would go somewhere else, not a SEAT dealer, as thats the only one near me.

Yep my wife's car (bought new) has only ever been serviced at a VAG specialist, the local dealer is rubbish and the other two local to me have gone bust.

MikeDov, next time take your car to Westec in Newport, speak to Grant and Jock.....Jock is excellent on the spanners.

Sorry to hear that MikeDov - I know all to well the feeling of taking a car to a main dealer and getting sh*te service at over inflated prices - but don't change car man, change garage!

Changing to the Ford won't help (might even be worse if my local Ford Dealer are anything t go by!). Now I know there are some decent dealers out there but the rule of thumb these days appears to be that if you own a car produced by a volume manufacturer and you take it a main dealer then the chances are that your car will be worked upon by some monkey who hasnt got a clue what he is doing and will be none too careful with your pride & joy to boot.

I'm not sure about your dealer but most of them make a note of any damage to the car when you take it in and its listed on the inspection sheet you get with your service. If you take your car back within a fortnight and its showing anything that is not on there inspection then they will sort it.

I kno this because (You wont think your dealer is so bad in a minute) I dropped my immaculate Honda Civic off to Arnold Clark (local Honda Dealer) for a service, only to get it back with 2 severely curbed wheels (when i say kerbed, I mean the tires were ripped and there was no rim left) and dents and scratches all down the passenger side.

I didnt notice at the time. Picked it up at lunchtime, parked against a wall. Jumped in and drove. Never thought anything about it til later that night. Me and my mate are cleaning it and he says 'when did you curb you alloy'. I was like 'haha very funny' and went for a look.

And you think your dealer is bad!!!

Cheers Paul, you have .pm

This wasn’t intended to be a whinge, sorry if it did sound that way but it was a build-up of annoyance from a main dealer that we really shouldn’t have to accept what feel like a second rate service for good money.

I still feel shocked that Seat UK allows bad reports like this to happen. The same dealer had one of my work colleagues cars (Mitsubishi, they are dealers for them as well) for 7 months having a warranty repair, now that cant be right.

Mines booked in this weekend as the alarm internals dont seem to work and according to my computer the immobilizer is inactive. (any one know any ways to check this?

Im not letting the car out of my site whilst it is in there care.

The only time mine will go into the dealer is for warranty work i will be doing all the servicing my self at least i know it is actually done then!

Unfortunatly its not just Seat dealers that are pants i've had rows at Citroen, Toyota, Peugeot and ford from all around the south anything from London to Eastbourne if they would just shut up and listen to what you have to say and not pressume that you no bog all about cars that wouldn't be a bad start.
