Hi guys,

Ive just recently got hold of my cupra and its on 55,555 miles, so im looking to change the timing belt.

Problem is Ive heard that you need to replace the pulleys and other bits aswell? Is this right?

The price I seem to be getting from everywhere is around the £350 mark.

Is this the going rate, or can I get it done cheaper?

Cheers!

Where about in the UK are you?

JBS in Chesterfield can do the 60k service for £425 all in. Best price i managed to source by far:)

This includes the usual service, cambelt and tensioner change and uprated waterpump change.

i've just been quoted £420 from my local seat dealer for the 60k service and cam belt done, is that a decent price.

If it includes waterpump and tensioners then yes that is an excellent price.

My local SEAT dealership quoted £550+

just under 150 here, parts came to mess than 40 quid and 100 for the labour. non dealer garage which hardly matters once the car is heading out of warranty.
German swedish and french shops sell everything you need.

cordobabrendy where abouts is here? Im in! car left warranty over two years ago!

Just seen how far away JBS is, by the time I ake in petrol and time I wouldnt save much, but thanks all the same Mitchy. (im in wigan, between manchester and liverpool).

Im in belfast tom but if you find any small reputable garage, the place i used was called Mr Service so not exactly a big time nationwide dealership haha.

i went down to GSF at trafford park (manchester) yesterday, got cam belt kit (belt, tensioners etc) and water pump (with brass impellor) £90 quid, getting them fitted early next week for £90 quid at a local garage. Will then go to seat just for the service so i get my book stamped.

When i was getting prices for my new pump i tried 4/5 places and i asked for the audi tt pump because i was told that it had metal blades and was told by all suppliers that all seat ones have metal blades to and they have stopped making plastic blade ones:confused:

I rang the dealer yesterday and priced up the timing belt and water pump, they told me that they have no control over whether or not the water pump has a plastic or metal impellor, its just luck as to what comes in their delivery. So Im gonna order the bits from them and if its a plastic one send it back. Id be a bit narked if I paid for a new pump only to find its the same as the one I took off.
