Thinking of having the windows tinted on the Leon just wondered if anyone has a pic of one with them already done...pref in ovni but any will do.
Also anyone know the FACTS about tinting (is it legal or not...)
Cheers [B)]

Officially you cant have anything done to the front windows but... if your going to risk it I would keep it light.

Anything too dark looks cr@p IMO anyway, just a subtle tint looks sweet.

Yeah i want a "light smoke" (like you see on some Mercs n BMW's) so you can stil see in the car but wiv a very slight tint...
Just worried in 2 years time when it comes to MOT what will happen???

i tend to think that the police are only going to pull you for this kind of thing if you sit in a superstore carpark of an evening and have " NOW THATS WOT I CALL TUNES FOR CHAVS " blaring out of your 56 inch sub, doing burnouts and donuts whilst making roach material for your huge spliff out of last months MAX WA**ER magazine :w4nk:. i had the windows on my ibiza tinted and they weren't light smoke and i never had so much as a second glance from the police . go for the light smoke mate, it'll look nice and subtle, yellow really suits the tints, my ibiza was bengal yellow so i speak from experience as well.

i think the standard glass to about as tinted as you can go. so any more tinting will be illegal.

however you can tint the rear window and read windows as much as you like. theses are not covered. (basically you are ok as you would be no worse than a van).
i believe you need to be able to use 2 out of 3 mirrors to be legal. ie 2 out of two wing mirrors and rear view.
and so thus the front windows cant be tinted legally.

Haven't got an Ovni but had some tints done on my Leon here

The law is that the front windows should allow 75% of light through, this is from 2004. Though many tints allow much less light through, depends how subtle it looks..I haven't been stopped yet.

Mine cost £150 ish.

Most likely at work
you can get legal tints for the front, but they are only allowed to be 25%, meaning 75% of light must pass through.

the back can be as dark as you like.

iv got 55% on the front and 90% on the back.

here it is when it was onvi:
