Hi guys just wondering if anyone on here has tinted or purchased smoked taillights for their 6J. I have a white one with black alloys thinking the black taillights would look good.

I know a few people who have had good results pretty cheaply using spi vision and flyeyes wrap kits, these are perforated to allow enough light through and remain completely legal. Easy self fit.

I've used flyeye previously and tint film currently, I found flyeye easyist to work with on the rear lights due to the curves, Even though mine isn't white i have included some pics so you can see the different end result between flyeye and tint film

with flyeye a slight tint

with tint film basically really dark, bulbs cannot be seen until illuminated, hard to tint the lights though

How is the light transmission through the full black tint?

Do you not get a lot of extra attention from the Police for those?

Excerpt from MOT

1.3: Brake lights
A brake light must emit a steady red light. At least 50% of the lamp must be visible from the rear Light must be visible from a reasonable distance
1.4: Reflectors
At least 50% of the reflecting surface must be visible from a reasonable distance.

Is that your reflectors either side of the licence plate, guess that's not affected so just down to how much light comes through.

I have no police attention, had more when i used the tint spray on my old pug 207, yh the reflectors are either side of the license plate, and the brake lights are visible in sunlight, the 3rd brakelight is not covered but will most likely be fly eye when i do, like i did on the previous ibiza

some pics just taken

reverse and side light

I've got my lights black on my ibiza, i will take a picture later, i bought some black film of ebay not the smoked stuff. The lights look good but if you get up really close you can see a few bubbles, i did have them done professionally and the bloke said they was a bugger to fit. I got told the tint spray would give a much better look, so im off to source some more tail lights.

Make sure you don't use that tint spray remover on them it causes small cracks to appear, i found many light coats work well on tint spray,
