To flap or not to flap?

My chrono yellow FR came with mudflaps and I can't decide whether to keep them on or not. Anyone got any pics with and without? Are they easy to take off?

i'm thinking the same but the other way around. i didnt get them and am now wondering if i should.
driving around in the rain these last few weeks has made the sills/sides of the car manky, and i'm thinking ahead before they put the salt on the roads.
functionally theyre great, asthetically theyre a bit shat!

I agree, i think they look really smart and finish it off nicely.

I have mudflaps on my Arosas, I think they look really good and it dont hurt that they help to keep the paintwork in good condition either :)

I prefer most cars with mudflaps though, if they suit the car they look good, and they do seem to give the car a more 'planted' look from the back as you carnt see as much tyre.

Leave them be

That's the thing. Normally hate flaps but these are only tidgy and quite rigid (oo-er) rather that your old style tarmac-draggers.

They look smart to me, does anyone know how much they would be fitted at the dealer?

I live on a building site and everytime I take the car out during the day it ends up brown. Its so bad they actually send a road cleaning truck round most days.

It doesnt really snow that much here and I dont go through many dirt roads etc but I guess its all down to personal choice.

My skirts make the car look lower anyway but personally (without offending anyone as it is a personal preference) I think they look a bit ''agricultural''.

If you are looking at them from more of a practical aspect then go for it

I'm sure they're £30 a set, dealer should fit them for free when ordering your car...doesnt look liek a hard job though, couple of screws and a couple of clips....

Stupid quetsion, but could someone point me to a link to a tool that would make the fitting of the mudflaps a doddle? Because I'm having difficulty fitting them, but can tell given the right tool it would be simple.

Much appreciated

I say put them on.

My black magic TDI now has 63k on the clock, and there are three visible lines on the underside of the rear bumper behind the wheel where road grime is thrown up and has damaged the paint surface.

I'll put some picture up when I do the "end of term" report in a couple of months time.

morleymackam - was thinking the same when I bought my yellow FR, but the dealer talked me out of it and I went for sill protectors instead.

I'd certainly take the front ones off your hands if you don't want 'em.....

My Yellow FR is at the dealers and I am having Muddies fitted. They look particularly good on lighter colloured FR's as they frame the central black bumper section nicely.

Also keep the cars much cleaner.

£80 supplied and fitted by Autoworld Sheffield.

Picking up at the weekend - happy days.

I'm gona have to get a set, they really do help keep the car almost stone chip free & also stop a bit of dirt going up the side.

I had them on the golf from day 1 & the rear wheel arch where the front wheels flick up stuff is almost unmarked, my friend has a meganne 225 with about 10k on the clock with no flaps & thats battered.........

I'm sure anybody with even a small amount of technical knowledge could fit them
