Tool for rear brake caliper mounting bolts

Hi all, can anyone help regards to what tool I need for the rear caliper mounting bracket please.

Why can't it be as easy as the front calipers

It's a locking bolt system. You need to hold the inner nut in place with a spanner while undoing the outer bolt.

Sorry I meant for the 2 bolts that hold the caliper mounting bracket onto the back of the hub. So I can get change the discs. Thankyou for your help tho

Sorry about that. It's a spline bolt that holds the carrier on, don't know what size. The VAG tool number is below.

I don't know if it's a 'special tool' or a standard spline bolt. It depends on the number of splines on it, there are plenty of sets on e-bay for £6-7.

If you search on the tool number, you should be able to find places that sell it but probably a lot more expensive.

Go to halfords and they do a comp set for £25 or £19 if you have a trade card

if you do alot of diy on your car its worth getting as most are these type of bolts

Had the same issue, they are and absolute tw@t. Took me and my mate 2.5 hours, because of how tight the bolts were, and lack of access. As above you can buy a apline set from Halfords. We found the easiest way was to use the spline socket, (think it was size 14) use a fixed bar, from a socket set and use the wheel brace. Just make sure you get the car as high as possible, and that you use axel stands, and chock the front wheels. Because we had to use a lot of force. We then used copper grease to hopefully make it easier to remove next time.

if your running solid rear discs you dont have to remove bracket as discs wiggle out

I tried to remove the disc without removing the carrier. But there isn't quite enough room to get the disc out.
