Hi All - 1 month into my formentor ownership and I have been unsuccessful in opening the boot hatch with my foot. With ignition on, key in my pocket, tried multiple leg movements in the zone as described in the manual without success. I do have the Cupra factory tow bar installed and I’m wondering if this may obscure the foot operation sensor. Can’t find mention of this in the manual - thoughts ?

Is the tow bar retractable? It shouldn’t make any difference but when I had it I think it worked once, in the end up I just gave up.
the time it did work was as per manual but that was only once :banghead:

It should work. I have the factory fitted tow bar and my boot opener works fine. You need to pass your foot in and out in the centre of the boot. Once you get it right it becomes easier and rarely fails.

So the method that works best for me is to put my foot under the middle of the boot, keep it there for half a second and then pull my leg back. (so foot forward, keep it there, then foot backward)

Just waving it around doesn't seem to work well, I always give a bit of time for the sensor to pick it up and it seems to work well for me.

BTW ignition does not need to be on. You can do it with a locked car if you have the key in your pocket. Also, if you are doing it with the ignition on make sure that the car did not lock (kind of obvious but let's get that out of the way as well).

You'll have to take some time to test it out and find what works for you. If it is still not functional then I would go to the dealer/service and ask them to demonstrate how it works or fix it if does not.
