Anyone got one?
I'm thinking of getting one to pull my boat, but It kind of makes me sad, I've always liked the blockiness of the rear end.

Can anyone in the Leeds/ West yorkshire area recomend anywhere for towbar installers?

Thanks for the offer pal but I'm not fitting it my self, and traders round here only make there money back on labour when on what they don't make on parts.

Boats worth more than my car so if it flies of I wont be far behind it:shrug:

Although another thing you might be able to help me with is do you require another licence to be able to pull a boat?
the DVLA seems to specify caravans up to 3 tones but obviously thats not a sub tone boat

I had this argument when I was hiring a trailer, dvla & a flow chart at the trailer hire place states that as long as the car you are driving, the trailer and the load on the trailer is less than 3500kgs you should be fine.

But then they came back saying the trailer needs to be less than 750kgs as well. Think it's a fine limit, a B & E licence is £400 to do the course.

Think I will be contacting the DVLA soon to find out the in & outs

If you passed after 1997 you can tow a trailer up to 750kg max gross weight, or a heavier trailer providing the max gross weight of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the car and the combination of the trailer and car does not exceed 3500kg

I had a copper try and give me points for towing a trailer...until I told him I was allowed and made him get his book out and read it!! I didn't like telling him I was allowed but I'd looked into it quite a lot.

But the above info is right, as long as the unladen car is heavier than the max gross of the trailer and both combined are under 3.5 tonnes you're all hunky dory :)

If you want to keep the look of the rear you could try some of those more expensive towbars with removable tow hooks. Personally I'd get the free one from Dave R as they can cost to much and the money could go on something better for the car.:D

I appreciate that they can't have every law to mind,
but in every single interaction I've had with a road cop
I've felt targeted and tarnished for simply driving from A to B.
They were always trying to catch me out, for somthing I've not done:confused:
Makes me angry when theres a retail car park full of corsa and saxo racers bombing it around all night

but what can I do eh.

Unfortunatly I don't have my Ibiza road legal anymore, canceled my insurance due to gear box going, hoping to get a leon with a tow bar on, or go on my dads car which has one.

I was quoted £160 for my ibiza they said there was alot of cutting involved from what I remember.
