the old fifth gear episode was the Focus RS vs the 210 LCR vs the CTR.

The civic pants them all. Well actually I think the focus was fastest with the leon being last. But there wasn't much in it, but they picked the civic overall as being the best compromise between hardcore hatch and softcore hatch.

Which cars comes fastest round each track will obviously also depend on the track. The top gear track looks like a generally faster track than the fifth gear one. Where perhaps the torque of the leon put it above the others. But on a tigher track te handling of the civic won it through.

I saw the Leon focus civic review, with tiff, said the leon wasn't that hot

I never found my LCR that bad on bends, only problem I had when I first bought it was it understeered like nobodys business change the tyres from pzero's and it was fine

That the trouble with the Leon its useless on bends, in standard form anyway

The LCR is not "useless on bends". OK, so it's not as stiffly sprung as other hot hatches, but driven well it can still put in a good show.

In my opinion, the standard LCR suspension represents the perfect mid-point between comfort and performance.

Aye not surprised by the Evo but the megane with LSD should have been faster, this is supposed to be a weapon on the corners.......

I'm sure the Trophy Megane doesn't come with a slippy diff, that was reserved for the top-of-the-tree 230 F1 R26 ;)

I remember when Evo tested the hot hatch mob, the R26 with the magic diff spanked the lot of them round the track.

Ah yes I remember now - it was the cupra and not the LCR in that fifth gear test.

Going round that track I would like to see the LCR and new CTR do battle!

But yes it is interesting to see those top gear results but they have to be void if they are all in different weather conditions.

Have a look in the back of Evo magazine at the track times, the LCR kicks ass there too :)

In this track testing session the old CTR was 3 seconds slower than the LCR. The track was a fast track with few corners but the LCR spanked alot of big names.
The handling in the LCR is miss undestood due to the body roll.
The handling is good if you understand the body roll and don't bottle it
