Trigger of automatic handbrake in Park

What triggers automatic handbrake in P when parked and switching off motor?
Most of the time I am parked on the same slot, on flat level. And it's 50:50, handbrake triggers automatically or does not.
I have tried to check for example my foot on brake when switching off (or not), higher pressure on the brake pedal (or light pressure), but I was not able to find out the same conditions for triggering or not. It looks to me completely random.

The only one reason I found in manual for automatic triggering handbrake is "switched on motor & DSG in D/S or N or R & driver door opens".
Nothing about triggering handbrake while in P.

On top of that, my manual recommends to use handbrake everytime in Park and that it's possible to set it up in car settings via multimedia screen.
I did not found it there anywhere...
Do you have it? If so, where? Do you use handbrake everytime in Park (with DSG)?

I park on a drive with a slight incline downwards, and I park the car with the front wheels against the bottom kerb of the space, As it is a DSG it puts the handbrake on as soon as I switch the engine off if P is pressed, and I then put it off as it can't roll anyway, plus the gearbox is locked as soon as the engine is switched off. I only use the handbrake on away from home, which means that if I don't use the car for a few days it does not get stuck to the discs.

I use it every time, as it engages always. I have auto-hold enabled at all times. That results in parking brake engaging after switching off the engine or opening driver's doors while the engine is running. If I remember correct it also depends on whether the seatbelt is fastened.

In my previous nonDSG VW I remember the car rolled after I parked it without my seatbelt. Autohold did not engage because of that so in the end parking brake also was not enabled.

As it is a DSG it puts the handbrake on as soon as I press P
Mine does not do it automatically, as well DSG.
Like I wrote, 50:50 that it does or does not.

This makes sense - when car make a full stop, autohold enabled triggers handbrake.
But I don't use autohold, mine is switched off. So there have to be as well another condition for triggering.

Autohold does not use the electronic handbrake on the rear wheels. Autohold uses the hydraulic brakes on all 4 wheels.

AH & EHB are 2 seperate systems.

When I park on my sloping drive AH is active until I switch off the engine (when in P) & then EHB activates. This is clearly shown by the green & red telltales at the bottom of the instrument cluster.

This has worked flawlessly for me since mid-2019 when I acquired my 2018 Leon FR (hope I don't regret writing that!).

I make a habit of always pulling the handbrake trigger manually when I park, no matter what the automatic system is supposed to do. This is after I first had a Leon with the auto handbrake and got so used to it, that when I drove a hire care with a manual handbrake I almost had it roll away.

in what order should I press the P button?
1) stopping,
2) brake pressed
3) clicking P
or
1) stopping,
2) brake pressed
3) applying the handbrake
4) click P
