Sure there is a cheaper way or cable that can work. did you have this problem??

Anyone else have any ideas ??

No I don't have any problems as I purchased a genuine VCDS cable from one of the above official distributors.

I'm not going to condone buying pirated cables. Ross-Tech have developed an excellent affordable product with a lifetime of free software updates and first class support, and I want them to remain in business so they can continue to develop it further and help us enthusiasts to diagnose and tweak our cars without having to pay a specialist to do it.

I certainly wouldn't be letting a pirate cable go anywhere near my car knowing the sort of damage the accompanying cracked software might accidentally cause to one of my expensive control modules.

I've got a Hex-Can cable running the latest version of the VCDS software (v14.10.2). I paid £260 for it last year and for the things I've needed to use it for it's already paid for itself.

With the pirate cables you can't update the software. You're stuck with using an old cracked version that is supplied on a CD with the cable. So other than the risks associated with using cracked software, you also get left behind on an old version of the software that won't support newer vehicles.

You paying yearly for the full vagcom or you using the free download mate

There is no yearly fee. It's a one-off cost of £270 for the Hex-Can cable, then the VCDS software and any future software updates are free forever. The license is embedded within the cable hardware.
