Luton, rufff !!!!!!!
I have the 2.0 8v AGG gti and it sounds great as it has the airbox drilled (only std filter tough) and a 20vt exhaust. This is how i got the car and want to tune it a bit more but on a small budget.

The car seems to lack power when throttling quite hard on the motorway but seeems to pick up as you come back on the pedal. Is it due to the paper filter still fitted or underfuelling? I am after getting this to pull a bit better but dont want to have to get an engineers report to insure it at the mo.

I have a KR engine in the garage and was wondering if its worth nicking any bits of it? I am a mechanic so major work is not a prob but the car is a daily driver and i am skint !! LOL !! obviously i can buy tuning parts as i go along but we are not talking a budget of thousands.

In the long run a transplant may be an option. I know that people say it is cheaper to buy a cupra turbo but after paying £550 for the car and being able to do all work myself except porting etc. is it not an alternative to buy a write off and transplant evrything. Is there any str8 swaps that would be basically swap and plug in.

clean out the throttle body, it gets clogged quite easily mate :)

also regarding putting at 20vt in, do a search mate, been covered a lot of times :)

fast road cam, get the timing bang on, quality HT leads and plugs, clean and if you can be bothered port the throttle body (no huge gain but easyish) free flowing panel filter. (out of interest how is your box drilled? if the whle side nearest the engine is drilled then this is not helping matters when warm) cold air feed. full exhaust with free flow cat. you can get the ecu chipped also, but with little gain, but worth doing if you have all of the above to free up all the possible ponies.

all of the above are relativly "cheap" if you did all of the above you could be lucky and get 15 bhp more. you can get them upto about 150 but you need big cash outlay on things such as ported & polished big valve head, a real lairy cam, nife edge crank, lightened flywheel etc etc

conversion wise, a full swap out of a 16v ibiza will instantly gain you 35+ bhp and a lot more power tunability. allthough im not a fan of the 16v, mainly because you have to drive it real hard to get the extra horses to work.

20vt conversions are doable but will cost a damn site more in sourcing bits and getting it tuned.

each to their own really :D

hmmm, the box is drilled on the inner wing side i believe. It does have some blue ignitor plug leads on it, which are good aren't they? The plugs are bosch but dunno which ones at the mo.

When you say port the throttle body i take it you mean remove the taper as i have seen on another thread.

I did think of NOS but it is a once in a while thing and not really for cruising.

If i end up spending £500 to £1000 just to gain 15 - 35hp i might as well get a salvage cupra or even a golf and transplant for a few hundred more.

Are there turbo kits for that kind of money or a conversion i can do?

anything can be done with the correct gear and time and money :D a nice cheap (ish) conversion is the VR6, but then you have a whole load of other problems, mainly fuel consumtion haha.

ye porting the throttle, basically opening it up a bit, grinding out the taper can have serious idle problems if its done to far. and grinding down the slotted rod the butterfly is mounted to.

ps your car is stunning, simple but it looks well mean

forced induction from supercharger or turbo? at 10 psi you get around 160hp and loads of torque.

i need more power at 1500 to 2500 and at 4000 upwards. how do i get it?

really is there that much of a difference between groups of a 16v and a 8v
