Hi folks,

I have been reading about the problems some of you are having with your Ibiza turbos having big hesitations. Some of the posts were suggesting throttle position sensor problems. Was this ever proved ? I am soon to get mine chipped, still deciding who to go for, but was reading CCC this month (modifying an Audi TT) and read with interest about the tubo intake pipe being flimsy. This is the pipe between air cleaner and turbo. CCC reckon it was so flimsy that it was colapsing under high boost due to the vacum created from the resistance the air filter makes. Has anybody thought about this as the cause ? I may be talking b@lls but was worth a mention.
p.s. Anybody got a dyno graph for the upsolute chip ?

The turbo pipe is of poor quality and i believe restrict air flow at higher speeds.
Although the hesitations are not due to this, its to do with program problems within the various mangement systems.

The turbo pipe can be replaved an ABD item. see
www.awesome-gti.com they stcok the ABD items and there are pictures of the OE item and the reaplacement.

Cheers

I am not so sure you two guys are talking about the same part...
the resitrictive part that Awesome (ABD) is metal and bolts directly onto the turbo inlet, whereas the rubber pipe on the TT tuning mentioned on the CCC article is between the airbox and MAF I believe. the TT was also producing over 250bhp and the pipe imploded as it was soft rubber with insufficient stiffening.

I read "turbo intake pipe" and presumed.

Thats friday afternoons for you

:hammer:

intake hose

Bill is correct, the intake hose will collapse at about 5000rpm.
When we remap the 225TT we place a steel sleeve inside the hose. This does not happen with seats.

Just read that CCC article....and was rather intriqued!!

But yeah.....there is a little bit (not very long) plastic thingy that connects the filter to the intake pipe...which is solid aluminium on a std motor. I can't see this collapsing...since the std car only runs 7psi!!

On that 280TT...it must be running in excess of 1 bar of boost (14+psi).....and so not surrprised that the plastic tubing suffered when the manifold wanted more air!!

Our Seats have ECU problems....well, not really a problem...its a design thing. Not sure if its cureable too!

Lee

PS: I don't think that ABD intake pipe fits straight on to the Ibiza/Leon 20VT's by the way....it needs some modding before it fits. At least thats what i've heard!

Cheers Jim..
Thats the word I was searching for "collapse" and I come up with implode !! Duh... close though...?

Have you had a chance to look over the information I sent ?
(replies off here though if you have any comments-which I hope you do)

all the best

Ive been told by a freind that my pipe is colapsing at top ends making a small period of no power this true and woud a silicone hose prevent this and if so were could i pick a decent one up and not pay loads cheers
