turbo cut out?

hello does anyone know why the turbo seems to shut down at 3000 rpm approx on my 51 plate diesel SEmodel , when it shuts down it will not work in any of the rev range until i turn the car off and then its ok to 3000rpm again?

Sure its the turbo cutting out? and not just going into limp mode? Get it on vag-com that should give you some more info.

Sounds like the turbo may be overboosting causing the electronics to put it into limp mode, by turning ignition off and then back on you are re setting the computer.

Mine did that, it was a sensor gone making the ecu think it was over boosting. I ended up getting a new turbo fitted before the problem was correctly identified... an expesive misdiagnosis!

sounds like the old overboost going into limp mode, theres ,loads about it if you search the TDI section.

Can't remember the name of the sensor, but it was the first one after the turbo, in the manifold I think... sorry my knowledge isn't that brilliant!

had same prob,wastegate sticking freed off but in the end put new turbo on ok now
