hi mate not sure if its any help but a few months back my turbo went on my mk1 i lost all power and it shot all the oil through the exhaust i phoned around everywhere and the best place i can really suggest is volks spares i paid £500 for a brand new oem turbo they are very good and always happy to help i think the guy i spoke to was peter he does know his stuff

Hi Rob, one of my customers is a Borg Warner supplier, can you let me know your engine code and I'll try and get you a new turbo at cost, if you need it

If it is indeed the turbo ken that would be a great help, think the engine code is BWJ, i have the part number for the turbo too: 06f145702c.

The car is getting taken to Awesome gti on thursday to get sorted seening as Seat wouldnt support the dealer on the technical side of things :w4nk:.

Will update when they have had a chance to have a look at it.

:headhurt: How to spend £20k and feel isolated....

I know people can rightly say 'You know the risks you face when modifying', but it's the way they literally wipe their hands of you when something like this comes up. Fingers crossed for you mate.

so what exactly happened for the dealers to tell you that SEAT are watching the forum?
did your dealer see your your car was modified and refuse to warrant a claim or did they know your car was already coming and they were already going to say no?

Probably trying to show their customers they'd moved into the 21st century & had a modem installed?

I remember that day at Stealth Warren - v v funny :)

No point people getting het up about it, you know the risks etc. & it is a shame that SEAT can't offer something right now (long gone are the days that all the staff cars had chips....)

Just choose your aftermarket suppliers well, someone that can look over a car without fault code reading & diagnose a fault is worth their weight in gold.... it's a sad state when all a dealer is good for is a service stamp

well after seeing the car and  over it, like literally, they said there really is no way we can get away with doing warrenty work on the car, then the next day they said "are you a member on one of the forums" i said maybe , they said Seat had seen the thread and sent a warning to the dealers in the area .

I find that hard to believe. What would they do, spend a morning giving the heads up to every dealer in Yorkshire just incase. Pulling your leg. Hope you get it sorted easily.

I would imagine they have all the dealers email addresses stored in a contacts list.

It would take 1 or 2 mins to send an email to them all in one go.

The reason i asked this was i have general knowledge of SEAT crapstomer service and they are busy because of the rubbish they tell customers there they dont know what they are doing , never return calls when they say they would , just seems strange they would have someone looking at web pages to see if a car is going to go to a garage with a potentail warranty claim that has been modified?
i am not doubting you but seems a little strange ? perhaps if they put this resource and effort into sorting out problems then they might start to get a better reputation.

I dont think SEAT have the first clue that they will be loosing valued customers because of how crap they are? i wont get my car serviced at SEAT again but do have some warranty issues that will need resolving at some stage :( maybe 4th time lucky in fixing them? who knows?

Every UK dealer should have an intranet system in place, that links them to head office. Its easy for them to be sent product and media bulletins as well as technical and recall information.

Its not hard for them to send a notice to every dealer in the country if they wish. Warranty claims are put through on the system too I would imagine, and the Reg Number or Chassis Number could well be flagged up on the system.

So do you think they have clocked all our user names, sig details, poss mods and matched them with reg #'s added them to a database so they can instantly decline any claim?

They have the potential to - Yes ..

Have they done that??? IMHO - No.

As Tam says, do SEAT make a point of searching people out ahead of time? I expect not.

But if they get a rather large prospective warranty claim coming in from a dealer then they do tend to start browsing the forums to see if anything could potentially be linked.

Where their no help stance can fall down is if SEAT won't even approve a dealer to undertake a proper diagnostic if they even have the ability to undertake it.

If the end diagnosis turns out to be something like a torn boost hose, they tend to end up looking rather silly in my opinion.

But on the same hand I appreciate why SEAT shouldn't always be obligated to pay for expensive repairs should a car be modified outside the manufacturers specification.

How could they match our user names to our cars though. Most people blank their registration plates when posting, so it's going to be difficult job for them to make a match.

I guess it depends how discreet you are. In this case the OP posted his problem, its a big giant red flag. Even if they didn't know his name on here or his reg details its not hard to put 2 and 2 together when the warranty claim comes in.

I think people are getting a bit paranoid about things.

SEAT have the potential to do what ever they want regards to warranty claims , but i dont honestly think they are big brother and watching every move and post here on the forums across all the models and all the posts? how many posts a day are there?

The other thing is if Robs car turns out to have a fault which is not related to his mods then imho he has the right to claim back from SEAT the costs of having it put right.

SEAT should have said they would investigate his problem but if the fault is found to have been related to his mods then he will be liable for the checking and testing of parts , but should not have just turned him away.

Where actually on the warranty does it say that mods will invalidate a claim? must have a look when i get home.
