not being funny mate but i was just after 115bhp i would just put a 1.4 sport engine in what is a 100bhp standard then exhaust and mani thats another 15bhp ,,, well so people have been saying haha!
right looked into the 1.8 t route abit more seems like im going to go that way with it .... a company up north said they will carry out the conversion for 1,500 quid but you have to buy all parts ect your self .... think im gonna go down this route .... now its time too find a smashed up bezza!

Sure enough, but I assume you want the turbo for it's driving characteristics and not just BHP pub bragging rights?

This is what counts here....

155 Nm (~114 lb-ft) of torque @ 2000 RPM

Also a straight swap to a VAG family engine of the same or less displacement will be a minimal hit on the insurance front

However, whichever route you take, I would suggest swapping for an engine originally designed for turbo power. Otherwise you will most likely have to go to the length of either machined or custom forged pistons to lower the CR enough to run sufficient boost to be at all worthwhile - this in turn will obviously affect airflow in the head which will require extensive headwork on the flowbench. I have no idea if the crank has enough support (don't even know how many main bearings they have) to withstand the extra torque the turbo will give you.

thats very true ,, you will get no where near 300bhp with a std ko4 if i was going around the mark of 300bhp i wud use ihi turbo spools alot quicker and alot less less lag! ,,, still need 2 find a beeza if anyone knows of any breaking let me know

lol ,,, pretty sure there will be more than about soon haha! i hope so anyway

i will have a word with jabba when engine ect is in ,,, but they will not take on the work im after! with the 1.4 engine ,,,, gonna go down the 1.8 20v t route and a get company up north to put it in for me company called the phrim?

SEAT Sport 1.8 20v turbo engine and gearbox for sale, as fitted to the SEAT Cupra Championship cars.

The engine was built by Swindon and has completed less than 200 miles. It has all the usual SEAT Sport parts fitted, sump, inlet, cam cover etc. Will produce approx 295 bhp with an aftermarket management system. Includes both manifolds, tb, KO4 hybrid turbo etc. The engine still has all the original SEAT sport seals intact.

The gearbox is again near new, covering similar mileage. It is a 6 speed item and has a Ricardo plated LSD fitted by SEAT Sport.

I am looking for £2100 for the lot.

Shame I can't get the pics up easily

But you won't get anywhere near 300bhp from a std K04...........

Why not? People with more aggressive maps and better fmic than mine can get 280bhp with the K3s. 300bhp is easily achievable with the K04. You need a fmic and bigger bore downpipe, air intake and exhaust but its no problem :)

edit: come to think of it, my mate Karl had a yellow Ibiza cupra with a standard K3 and got 286bhp out of it

possibly but it can run like a bag of crap .... you might be able to run 300bhp on one but it aint gonna last that long as your running it on the edge! or else you would be seeing a fair few k04 running 300bhp tbh i dont know of any that are out there that are reliable at that sorta power

less lag....you sure?

where do you live?

my exprience with the ihi ... it spool's up very quickly plus depenending on what map you have you can ither have it mapped too spool up quick or slower .... slower obviously more boost and abit more radical when you put your toe down but tbh i prefure less lag and less of a kick to have power and pull all the way through the rev range but thats just my opionion

i live in peterborough very close to jabba i will be getting my car mapped buy them once its up and running but tbh dont really want them to do the conversion because they charge a arm and a leg lol!

:D Sounds about right lol. Its a lot to expect from the wee engine. I was happy enough to stop at 250bhp. Any more and I'd have been waiting for a loud bang every time i floored it

lo yes very true 250bhp is very ample amount of power ... tbh im more after torgue and getting the power down on the road .... well work will be starting very soon getting old engine out sometime next week then things will start from there get pic's up when i start the work

If you visit some threads in the real world on this forum, you'll find the generally accepted opinion is that 240bhp is the max you're going to see from a K03S. Anything else is Dyno Lottery fanciful graphs.

Ooooooh! Really? Is keeping up with a Porsche Cayman S and several tuned imprezas real world enough for you? Also the nM figures taken during VAGcom logging and converted to bhp and lb/ft agreed with the dyno to a couple of bhp. I have been to a number of shootouts at this dyno and trust me, if anything it reads a bit on the low side. Maybe you should have asked what the spec of my golf was first? I started with a Gti 180 and added

Revo stage 2 remap
Milltek R32 system
3" decat downpipe
Carbonio air intake
upgraded recirc dump valve
4 bar fpr
Blitz front mount intercooler
Coolingmist water/methanol injection

I spent a lot of time setting up the methanol injector pressure, boost pressure and timing using a revo map adjuster and VAGcom to get the most out of the engine and ran it like that for 11000 miles with no problems. The reason I 'only' had 250bhp was the end pipes on the fmic were a bit too small. I didnt mind cos i was happy with the power and very little lag and the fmic came very cheap.

Humble apologies for hijacking the thread by the way. I dont make a habit of it.
