turbo timer

Hi all, I'm a new member of seat cupra.net. I could do with a bit of advice/help.
I want to fit a turbo timer to my 2003 Leon Cupra R 210 and have been advised to get wiring harness for it as cutting and soldering the wires might play havoc with the alarm. All I have is the standard seat alarm/imobiliser that works on the key fob. Does anyone know where to purchase a harness or know if the alarm/imobiliser is affected.

Cheers

Hi again been reading about the wear that can be caused by not letting the turbo stop spinning and the loss in oil preasure to lubricate the turbo bearings.

Biggest waste of money and a useless modification imo.

You generally have to drive off boost to get to your house in the 1st place. You dont drive around your housing area and into your driveway at 120mph/6000rpm for instance

By the time you've come off of a busy road that had allowed you to drive fast and then to your house through 30-40mph pedestrian areas, your car will have cooled down sufficiently enough to turn engine off straight away anyway.

If not and you've ragged the car to your front door step which is highly unlikely there is no harm in waiting 2mins in the car before turning the engine off.

Waste of money, dont bother.

It also plays havoc with alarm/immob etc.

Having a quick read on the search function seems a bit of a waste of time as the 1.8T has a cooling jacket and if you just take it easy for the last 1.5-2miles of the journey and its not a problem.

that the question i asked:)

i was going to fit one to mine but its still sitting in my bed room lol. it dont work well with the alarm soming to do with the chips in the key i believe (not sure tho) i'm going to wait untill i get alarm upgrade then i'll prop get the TT fitted.

Any turbo timer will do but the problem comes when you try and puchase a harness as no one makes them, what you will need to do if you can is find a good tech with enough nonse to wire one up, winning the lottery is easier, also its illigal in this country to leave an engine running with doors locked and no persons in the car, get the wrong plod and you could get 3 points and a heavy fine......

If your worried about the turbo bearing not bein lubricated, before you switch off your engine let it idle for a minute so that the oil doesn't drop out of it!
