Hi not sure how much for just turbo timer or what you would want but clifford do turbo timers that work with any turbo car and there alarm systems. I had Remote Start, Turbo timmer, auto windows and a few other bits fitted to a clifford G5 650d and it cost me £800 fully fitted but my car was a pain to wire and i had alot of extras as its a cat one working inconjunction with my seat cat one!

If your anywhere near herts i can give you the number of the place that did mine?

I think

I think youll find if you do a search in the forums, unless its just for show off purposes, the mk3 ibiza doesnt need a turbo timer. When you turn the MK3 Ibiza off there is an auxilary water pump situated underneath your front cross member. This stays on for a while and circulates water around the turbo, so it doesnt seize or crack.

I think i am right in saying that.

Hope that helps

Cheers

The reason for the turbo timer is to keep the oil pumps on tho. A turbo has to have oil in there to make sure it runs smoothly. As soon as you turn your engine off you turn your oil pumps off, this oil then sits around the blades of the turbo and when you start it up again the blades have to overcome this and this can lead to them breaking.

Theres a chap on here that fitted one was quite a job IIRC. I wouldnt mind getting one also saves sitting in the car to let the turbo cool down. I think HKS do them as they come as standard on evos i think? Im not sure there totally necessary as that whirring noise when you turn off is somthing to do with cooling down the turbo i think. Any info would be great!

That whirring noise is the secondary coolant pump pumping coolant around the system when the engine is switched off to cool down the engine and turbo, theres no need for a turbo timer as this is in fact the same idea just doesn't cost anything. Also if you just take the last couple of min's of your journey off boost to slow th turbo down it will be fine. Spend the money on other things.

there are also issues to the legality of them.

but really as already mentioned there is no real need for one as long as you either take it easy during the last few minutes of your journey or let it idle for a minute or 2 before switching off. provided the secondary coolant pump is kicking in

i have to admit i am guilty of switching off early more than just a few times, however i rarely drive in such a manner that the turbo is glowing red, but if i did then i would let it run for a good 5 minutes or atleast until the turbo returns to its normal colour

its not like it gets boring cos theres always something to fix while you wait
