turbo timers

hay there,

Just bought a Seat Leon FR 2004 and would like to fit a turbo timer to it. i do not want to damage the turbo! Any ideas of any good ones to buy? also i do not want it to interfere with my immobiliser or central locking.?! Has anyone done this?? I have been told it can be done. Just I do not know where to start looking for one.

I think the general concensus is that they're not needed, at least not on TDIs anyway.

So long as you let the engine idle for a few seconds before switching off you should be fine (usually this happens when you're parking up anyway), or if you've been pushing it hard - take it easy for the last minute or two to let things cool a bit.

I normally just leave mine idling while I'm parking up, getting my things ready to get out etc, then switch off just as I get out.

The TDI engines & turbos last for mega miles if driven with a bit of common sense.

Yup agreed with above. Turbos in TDI are very strong and stable.

I like the idea of remote start and stop - perhaps with a handheld "doofler" - but to be honest, I really couldn't give a hoot, so will stick with how it is. I do the same thing as already mentioned. Try not to boost it too much in the final 1/2 mile before my destination, or simply let it tickover 15/20 seconds if I have "made an entrance" so to speak.
