i wnat the sat nav etc so what bits do i need?
if i get the touch screen tv i will also need?????????

Thats why i asked you, i dont know! I didnt think there was a solution using a tv. AKAIK there are three solutions to sat nav in a car:

1) standard manufacturer satnav setup - Seats costs about £1800 (correct me here if i am wrong)

2) Use a car pc to provide with satnav (like i am doing) - approx £600 for me total

3) Get a handheld PC (PDA) and use a system like TOMTOM to provide satnav. - tomtom kit is approx £300 and pda is £350+ (where i work anyway)

Because I have got bits lying around, the 2nd option is actually by far the cheapest for me.

To play dvd's in a car, u need a dvd player. best option here is a portable dvd player, and u can get them with or without screens. In the superstore i work in a mini dvd player with no screen is approx £80+ and one with a screen is £199+ . None of these do tv at all.

Hopefully I am right here. I could be wrong. Please correct me if i am.
Hope it helps

:p

Its a shame you cant run a PDA with tom tom and then connect the larger touch screen to it. or can you as this is what i would do???

Not as far as i am aware. I dont think pda's have an output to a standard tv or screen, let alone a touch screen.
Only way is to pay out for a pda with a larger screen!

or just buy a laptop! i think im gona go with either the kenny or pioneer flip up touch screen sat nav systesm £1500 and they do DVD/MP3/TV/CD/RADIO and Sat Nav! only trouble is they dont do a double din version

mr_claypole

may the farce be with you
the pioneer x1 thingy looks to be the dogs nads at the moment, but not sure.

i really want to be able to browse into my car and dump MP3's on it from the study..

some of the guys on the mp3car forums have done really really good jobs... check out the BMW M3 - all custom, but you wouldn't know it as it looks OEM!!!

Yeh i know, i intend for mine to look OEM if i can, hence the idea to put the entire pc into a cd changer box, and the screen built into the dash. However, having a few problems getting some of the computer bits running at the moment, so am not too happy :(

Scotty_b - Yeh, i like those ideas too, but trouble is i dont have that sort of money! So if i build it all myself i save myself £1000!

Me niether just gona get it bit by bit i think, or save up for the next 6 months! might see if they want to build me a computer to go in and ill fit it. If someone could supply the computer with sat nav dvd etc i would definatly give them some extra money for doing it

Tis something my company will be offering if the prototype goes well!
Big problem is my finances for my new car (will be a seat leon cupra 20vt) are struggling at the moment and so without the car, the whole project is kinda on hold or at least a go-slow at the moment.
I have some components, such as wireless keyboard w/integrated mouse, mobo,ram,hdd,software,sat/nav, and touchscreen, but i cannot get it into a case or install it until i know dimensions and space!

Hopefully the choice of secondhand leons will change soon as people will be trading in cars for the new reg in august/sept. (i hope anyway - need a nice car:p)

To be totally honest, my company isnt up and running properly yet, but will let you know when it gets going.
Basically we are offering all things IT, including custom stuff like this.

Cosham eh? Well well, I am actually closer to Waterlooville as I live in Horndean area, but work in Portsmouth and spend a lot of time in Southampton too.

Basically i need internal glove box sizes, sizes of the cd-changer, and sizes of the boot (width, depth height.) Dont put yourself out tho, as I will get my leon some point soon (if i can scrub up the last finances and when i see a decent example!) Approx 8k to spend on one so must keep my eyes open!
Cheers Scotty_b!

Oi :S

I worked 4 days a week, (25hrs a week) + a Masters Degree (4yrs) and I got a 1st/Distinction as a result, all at the same time! I did not party 24/7, only perhaps one nite a week!

I was one of the very few who worked their arse off.
But hey, it was still fun!
