At home
Took the wheels off my car this weekend to give them a good old clean, and as I did I noticed that the inside 1"-1.5" is wearing quite badly on the fronts, the rest of the tyre is fine though. Bit worried as to why they are wearing where they are, I would have thought that the tyres should wear across the middle unless there are some quite bad allignment issues or are they intentionally setup to run like this?

front wishbones have front & rear bushes.
the rears as standard are like foam :ban:
the ones used on the cupra are rock hard solid.
£8 each from your local dealer, a ball ache to replace on your own!

my local dealer (Droitwich, not to far for you Mr. Cellotape!) quoted me £80 fitted all in!

i changed mine and the difference is very noticable!

EDIT: just noticed , mr. cellotape, you already have a cupra!

No probs, but thanks for explaining because I would never of known:D

Thing is my dealer is obviously trying to say that it's a normal wear and tear thing, but how can wear on the inside 1.5" of the tyres be normal. I refuse to pay for more tyres when it's the setup of the car that is at fault, fair enough if I have driven like a nutter for the 8.5k miles the car has done, but I really haven't. It's never been near a kerb or been subject to any kind of abuse that could make the wheels be as far out as they must be to cause this uneven wear.

Many Mk4s have the same issue.

Granted, the front wishbone rear bushes are shite, but in my case I got the inner wear issue sorted with a decent alignment job.
I'd still definitely recommend getting the bushes done though, the standard ones really are appalling. While parked, even by hand I could get hold of the front wheels, try to rotate them, and see a few mm of front-to-rear wheel movement. Imagine how much they move under the stresses of acceleration & braking.

Yeah, fair point mate. Do you reckon there is any chance of them putting some uprated ones (cupra ones) on if you can prove that they are garbage? I think I will push for some better quality ones and see what joy I get.

You'd have to show the bushes were completely shot - ie the rubber was clearly split.
They probably won't be though, so you're unlikely to have any joy with the dealers, not in my experience anyway.

Sounds about right, only had it about 7 months and the whole thing just feels rubbish, like some bloke knocked it together on his dinner hour, I have more squeeks, creaks and rattles than I thought was possible from one car. I will never by a Seat again. Mind firmly made up.
