People seem to get some good mileage out of their tyres. I usually only get 7-8000 out of mine, bar some Michelin PS3s which lasted around 15K, but they were rubbish. I had a set of 4 Goodyear Asymmetric 2s put on my car around 6 months ago and they only have about 3mm left on them. I do 12,000 miles a year.

When I sold my Clio 197 a few years ago it had 28K on the clock and was halfway through its 4th set of front tyres!

Simonali what cars were the Michelin's rubbish on because alot of the Stage2+ cars on here run them with no problems.

I've always ran my current Scirocco on Continental Sport Contact 5's or Michelin Pilot Sport 3's. Both are superb in my experience. The Continental's lasted longer (got over 15k out of my last set on the front with some hard driving) but the Michelin's were not far behind and provided slightly better grip in the wet. Either way, your talking performance tyres here which are designed to keep you on the road and pointing in the right direction at higher speeds, so they will not be cheap or last as long as your standard run of the mill car tyres, but you can't put a price on keeping your car out of a hedge/tree/ditch!

Vredestein tyres have become popular on the Scirocco forum I am still a member of but have no experience of them personally.

I was running the Michelins on my current car, a Golf R32. They were OK, but suffered terrible understeer when pushed harder. The Goodyears are light years ahead when it comes to front end bite, but you can see why, they only last half as long! I'd say they're just as good in wet conditions, too.

I actually found they were the best tyre I've had when it came to balancing. Very well made and hardly any weights added to the rims at all. My advice if you really want Michelin tyres is to buy PS2s, which are still available, or save a bit more and get some PSS. The PS3 doesn't deserve the name and is actually an Exalto replacement rather than replacing the PS2 (which is why you can still buy them!).
