has anyone removed or known anyone that has removed the insulating lining under the bonnet? any benefits from doing this? thinking down the lines of heat under the bonnet?

i have. it looks alot better. i wouldnt say it makes much of a difference to the heat with mine but makes dv sound louder and the filter. (whole engine really)

Its just a sound absorber really. Does nothing else. Ditched mine because it was flaking all over my engine bay.

Ditched mine too.

Easy to do. Just pop the clips off.

Didn't make much sense to me to have a big wooly blanket lying over the engine. Engine cover gone too.

It's also there to smother a fire in the engine bay, as the clips melt and it drops down.

Mmmmm. Not sure about that one myself. By the time those clips melt the car would be pretty much toasted.

Not an expert though. Just my opinion.

cool this sounds like ima do this then, i can see what ur saying Fred but i dont think the linin under my bonnet is fit enough to put out a candle, so ima gamble it!

really DPJ, Hmm that could pose a lil problem then surely? is there much, enough to affect anything, i suppose its not something iv thought about engine heat against the ice cold english bonnet!

hmm ive been thinking about this too, undecided at the mo though.... would the heat from the engine damage the bonnet paint at all?

Did this on my last three cars. Sound improves and it looks a lot better.

The condensation is something we'll all be experiencing, however if i look at how many droplets actually fall on polished items in my bay, then its really not that bad.

If you don't have all your electrical bits plain in the open exposed to the elements you shouldn't be experiencing any problems with this.

ive ditched mine today but havent had a chance to take it for a spin yet, not going out in the snow! thats what crappy work vans are for :)

Took mine out last weekend and there is a more noticeable DV noise, but may put it back in during this weather to 'help' with insolation.

looks like mine be comming off now then :) bored doin nothing ha ha
