upgrad turbo downpipe fitment question.

i have been looking into upgrading the turbo and manifold to take a t3/t4 flange off the manifold. this parts straight forward but my question is i have a downpipe to bolt directly to the original turbo auq 180bhp engine 4 bolt fitment. but when i look at big turbo or hybrid turbo they dont have the same downpipe fitment. what i want to know is their a way of fitting an adapter to go to my downpipe or will i need to have a pipe made to come from the new turbo. typically the 5 stud type.
any help on this is appreciated as ill be ordering a turbo and mani in the next 2 weeks and just want to be prepeared to fit everything in 1 go.

Usually have to get a downpipe made.

pretty much what i was expecting. i was thinking about just getting a downpipe that fits the turbo im upgrading too and just cut and weld it onto the downpipe i already have. i may ask around and get some quotes on a custom downpipe to fit a turbo im upgrading too. god this big turbo or hybrid upgrade has a lot more too it lol.

You can buy the flanges like THIS and then get them welded to a down pipe

this is the standard turbo. with 4 bolt downpipe fitment.

this is the downpipe.

this is the sort of turbo i want to fit.

notice how the downpipe fitments are different. i want to know if their is a way of adapting a turbo like this to use my downpipe i already purchased to fit original turbo.

The square four bolt fitting is for the manifold the one on the side is for the down pipe, you would need to fit the flange to the down pipe but what i would do is get a "V" Band adaptor and fit that, the large part fits on to the turbo and you extend the down pipe and fit the other side if the "V" band to that like THIS its not for the leon but you can see how it works you put the two curcular bits together and the clamp holds it together.

thats more like it. im guessing their is a kit for most turbo types to do this.
ill have a look around and see what i can get.
thanks for your help.

No worries, you know you will have to change the exhaust manifold as well?

yeah i was going to change it anyway for a nice port and polished 1 but then found ones with the t3 t4 flange and then decided why stop there. may aswell do the turbo at the same time so its all done in 1 hit so i dont need to remove in the future and replace gaskets. ill be ready for a nice custom map that will see around 300bhp. but ill probably limit it to around 280bhp until i have done the rods.

Yeah thats a good plan, you just need to keep the tourque under or about the 300 mark, its that that bends the rods not the BHP, also having a smooth map that blends the power in, not one that gives a massive tourque spike early on.

thats the plan anyway but depending on how my funds and work goes and finding the time to do everything i may even do the rods and injectors so i can push past the 300bhp mark. considering a maps going to cost around £500 and doing the rods about the same and injectors going to cost around £150+ another grand befor a map will save me £500 in a year or so time.
