Alright Guys.

Im not interested in an induction kit but I was looking at upgraded panel filters the other day.

Is anyone running and upgraded panel filter element. (K + N etc.) . If so what are your thoughts? Any improvements and would you recommend one?

Cheers.

welcome.

Running a green panel filter and although I recommend it highly its purely for noise. I had it done with a dogbone upgrade so not sure whether the extra umph is from the dogbone mounts of the filter...

It is a big improvement over standard.

had mine fitted a few weeks ago, turbo spools up quicker, and the engine sounds more meatier :D

Indeed the car does feel meatier. To be honest i think the dogbone mounts made a big improvement in responsiveness. Power goes to the wheels much quicker now.

I thought the dogbone mounts were just to hold the engine steady during acceleration/braking ? Didn't know they had an improvement over performance ?

Well for £16, any improvements are a bonus :D

Generally people have found the Green panel filter to be a nice upgrade, can help with turbo spool up and they have been known to be a bit more MAF friendly.

You are correct that dogbone mounts hold the engine in place.

With standard mounts the engine is allowed to "twist" forward to a certain degree when accelerating. When it gets knock back all the power goes to the wheels then your tcs goes mad, wheel spin etc.. With uprated dogbone mounts the engine is held steady and the power goes down to the wheels quicker because the engine cant move hence the car is more responsive..You will also notice TCS does less work and you done get that massive thump when changing gear...the downisde is you get more vibration but i done nearly 200 miles now and the vibration has gone down 30% or so...

It would be interesting to know if it really does give more bhp. The car is certainly a bit more responsive, then again it may be because it nearly summer in the Uk that tyres got more traction...

NOTICED A DIFFERENCE STRAIGHT AWAY WITH A GREEN PANEL FILTER... SEEMS TO BE EASIER TO REV FOR A DIESEL ANYWAY AND HAS BEN MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE AT LOWER REVS PROBABLY DUE TO THE SLIGHTLY BETTER BREATHING LARGER SUFACE AREA ON THE FILTER HENCE SLIGHTLY MORE AIR BIENG TAKEN IN...

Chris! I was going to ask that, I have thought about it but not sure if it will improve things.

*** got a K+N panel filter in mine, made a bit of difference over a standard one, plus never have to buy another filter at service time
