dmnn thats bad !! £30 and 100+ miles . thats worse as a Cupra R

i went for a leon cupra tdi for the same reason i get 300 miles from around 30 quid :p

have you tryed servicing it ?? and also check your tyre pressure etc

its petrol yh but it shouldnt be killin you with fuel that bad :( what was your previous car ?

Yep its had the works, full service! Fuel, oil, and air filter, new oil, and new plugs. Check tyre pressures at the same time, it does have some pretty low budget tyres on, but i doubt it would effect the MPG to that degree. I also managed only 174 miles on 30 pounds previously, and 34 of that was town driving the rest was motorway.

My previous car was a 1.6 mitsubishi colt on a P reg. I could squeeze nearly 200 miles out of 30 pounds on that!

My cupra is doing about 80 miles to £20 the now but I know that my coolant temp sensor is intermittently playing up as it bringing ap a code. Also my temp gauge is dropping sometimes so going to change the temp sensor and the thermostat and hopefully that will sort it out.

So Ive done a scan as suggested and found no faults, and my car still seems to be using excessive amounts off fuel, on top of that if it doesnt always start first time(which is usually a struggle), it will crank for far too long and then spring to life, my temp gauge also creeps up to 90 nicely but will drop down to 70ish or just above once i start driving, or never reach 90 if I do a journey with little or no stops.

Im thinking the temp issue could be my thermostat as ive already got a month old temp sensor fitted, would a faulty thermostat generate my excessive fuel usage and the long cranking at start up?

Yes, probably. If it thinks it's cold permanently, it will use more fuel as any car does during the first 5 minutes.

Hi,

I'm now only getting approx 200 miles from a FULL tank with basic driving and virtually no turbo use. Defo something wrong!

What sort of milage should I be seeing from a FULL tank? 350 miles?

I'm I filled up to the first click last night, so ill see how it goes, I'm also getting a TBA and fitting a thermostat this Sunday! I did do a whatcar valuation last night which stated my car does only around 26mpg when town driving anyway which is mostly what I do!

You should see about 250-300 mikes per tank a dodgy cts (coolant temp sensor) or a dodgy thermostat ;)
