Been looking for a second hand passengers side track control arm for my LCR, had a couple of price but one seller wanted £25+VAT+P&P. Have i missed something  since when did you pay VAT on second hand parts?

If they are a business and are vat registered you will have to pay the vat. If you are talking about eBay I think they are supposed to include the vat in the sale price though

Thats not a track control arm m8 this is

When i bought the car the seller told me he had replaced the passengers side arm for the MOT. I replaced the front tyres last week as the tread was very low, now on full lock the tyre rubs the inner arch but only on the side with the replaced arm. I measured from the wheel centre to the sill and found the passengers side wheel is 20mm closer to the sill than the drivers side. After some internet investigation i have found the pressed steel arm the last owner fitted is not the same as the original cast items so can NOT be used on my LCR.

The thing that pisses me off is the seller would of had to track the steering to stop it pulling to one side due to the incorrect arm being fitted so must of known he was selling me a dangerous car, and i took my kids with me when i went to look at the car.

Yep, there's a few idiots around who couldn't care less as long as they make a buck. Probably through ignorance maybe but idiot still applies.

You could also measure the actual arm, from the rear bush and front bush to where the ball joint fits in. Worth a check as you can pull the hub out due to slots where the ball joint bolts go through.

No ignorance it was a private garage....... i have taken measurements from all angles and there defo not the same, i've even checked the sub frame wasn't miss aligned. If you find any cast bottom arms for an 03 LCR for around £30 posted give me a shout.

Yeh no bother, what about the R32? Would they not be the same?

I think some folk have it in their head that swapping out the bushes is hard and just buy an arm instead but the bushes are actually really easy to do.

Not sure about the r32 arm. Think its probably best to go with Seat or Audi TT just in case there's any minor difference i dont know about. Probably worked out cheaper to fit the wrong arm than buy all the bushes and replace them lol.

The cast and the pressed steel wishbones are not interchangeable, despite LOTS of garages saying they are. If I could figure out an appropriate you'd find a large number of posts on here where the garage has suggested a new wishbone is less than £50, where they are basically planning to swap the original cast one for the cheaper pressed one. And there must have been half a dozen instances where LCR owners have found the previous owners have swapped them out or allowed the garage to go ahead and then find the car doesn't behave right.

Unfortunately the cast one are A) quite expensive and B) seemingly quite rare. I've just had a quick look on Ebay, cheapest I can find is £40 second hand so it looks like you've got a pretty decent price.
