Hello! I've decided to install Aero Side Skirts in my car, but due to huge problem with their availability and high prices of new ones I wanted to find and install second hand ones. Unfortunately they often does not include mounting kit and it is not available to be ordered separately. Due to great deal I was able to order complete kit for 3-door version which I can use as a reference.

Long story short I've decided to create topic with resources about Aero Side Skirts that might help others like me.

Parts List

  • A - 2x 5F0071610 (5 door vehicles) or 5F0071610A (3 door vehicles)
  • B - 12x 1L0853139 / 5F9853107 / 5F9853107A
  • C - 16x N91090701
  • D - 2x 3D-printed bushing
  • E - 2x Stickers
  • F - 2x Stickers
  • G - 2x 5x40 screws

Parts Details

A - Side Skirts

While looking for second hand side skirts there are few things that you should be cautious of:
  • Locating part number is rather hard if you (or seller) don't know where to find them so the easiest way to recognize whether there are for 3-door or 5-door vehicle is overall length. Outside length for 5-door is ~190cm. 3-door version is ~6cm shorter.
  • Lifting spot covers have separate part numbers, but ordering them is almost impossible. I would recommend looking for complete side skirts with those covers.

B - Mounts

Originally kit comes with 12x 1L0853139 mounts. 1L0853139 is not available anymore and it was replaced by 5F9853107, which was also replaced by 5F9853107A. Last number is easily available to order from dealers. Each of this number represents the same part with minor differences, but they are interchangeable. On the photo old on the left, new on the right.

C and G - Screws

I was able to find correct part number of C screw (5x20), but looking through ETKA is a tedious job. I wasn't able to find any screw that will have something around 5x40 dimensions. Fortunately generic screws with any thread can be used as they screws into plastic holes. Here are example offers as a reference:

D - Bushings

I've published 3D model that can be downloaded and printed: https://www.printables.com/model/1483105-seat-leon-5f-5f00716105f0071610a-replacement-parts. Those are used only to support side skirts and they are simple cylinder with a hole, so printing settings are not crucial. 0.3mm layer height and 15% infill should be good enough.

E and F - Stickers

Here is a reference photo of those stickers. They are placed on A4 paper so its dimensions can be used as reference. Any shop that specializes with custom vinyl wraps should be able to convert this image to .SVG and cut them from some thick material to protect side skirts from rocks.

Instruction

I've also digitalized instruction and attached PDF to this topic. I don't know whether there is a better place for this file, but it should be right under this content.

Summary

And that's all. Feel free to ask any questions or let me know if some better photos might be needed. Soon I will sell side skirts with included mounting kit so I won't be able to provide any further details about original content of the whole kit. Hope this topic will help someone that wanted to install second hand skirts!
