VCDS-Lite pc specific

Can anyone tell me if I've got this correct. I have the activation/registration code for my VCDS-Lite but haven't used the activation file yet as my harddrive is on it's way out.

I was holding off because the program is only allowed to be transferred to another pc only once. Is a hard drive change different? Is it a case of copying everything onto a back up drive, putting in a new hard drive then reloading it? Sorry for the questions but I never watched Jonny Memonic.

I think it says on the site if you reload windows another activation will be needed. This is why I use my girlfriends laptop because I am always messing with mine.

I do not believe a hard drive change will cause the registration to be lost/modified. I believe it is related to the serial of the operating system and the CPU.

Thanks for the reply Bearthebruce and matty85. I Like your cupra and readers ride matty85. It was a bit on the unloved side wasn't it? I'd like to get the power in my AWT code 1.8t but I need to get this MIL sorted first.

Yeah she was unloved. But I only got her to be a run around wasn't ever ment to learn about cars or spend so much. But the car is worth it.

You never do intend to spend loads of money on them but it's case of, this will be the last thing and then something else goes on you. It's sort of alright if they're worth it and give you that feeling when you take them out for a spin.

I haven't had that feeling since I got rid of my leon. The cordoba doesn't handle anywhere near as good and cost almost as much as a slightly below average leon cupraR to set straight.
