Hi Guys,

Ok, so here goes. Over the past couple of weeks the car has been experiencing vibration through the pedals and also the steering wheel at speeds over 70 MPH.
I booked the car into my Local Seat dealer as the car was under warranty (Friday 23/05/14) they had a look and informed me that they saw markings / gauges in the near side front alloy which they believe to of been an object stuck in the alloy which was causing the issue.
Picked the car up Friday evening didn't get chance to test till yesterday, and still when driving at speeds over 70 MPH vibrations can be felt through the pedals / steering wheel.
Now most noticeably this appears to be happening when you lift off the gas and let the car decelerate and also when turning slightly to the right or left you notice the vibrations more.

Now I know convention says balancing / tracking but wasn't 100% sure that caused vibrations through pedals.

Also had a mate take it out yesterday evening and he also confirmed the same symptoms i was experiencing.

Any suggestions??

Cheers

I had this problem with a judder at 70+ mph. The front tyres were due for replacement and I got alignment and balancing done at the same time which sorted it. Then after a trackday it came back - the heat from the front brakes had melted the balancing weights off the wheel haha.

So basically no point in taking it to a dealers as that wont be covered under warranty...
Oh well see what they say when i take it back in next Thursday...

I had a similar issue after hitting a pothole and blowing a tyre. Had about a 4mm nick right on the very outer edge of the rim. Had two new tyres fitted and balanced on the same axle. Couldnt notice any problems until you hit near triple figures. I had the alignment done which was slightly out but made no difference. So I took it back to the tyre co and they rebalanced the wheels, seemed to solve it as I dont notice it anymore. They said they balance within an acceptable tolerance and had done this the first time, however when they get a problem tyre or wheel they make the tolerance alot closer to perfect which obviously takes a bit more trial and error. Just goes to show what a tiny bit of damage can do. To me it sounds like your dealer didnt fix anything cos they are saying the wheel is damaged and causing the problem, meaning they think you need a new wheel. I would ask them to rebalance it properly.

Does it go after a go if you go faster?

mine shakes at 80ish and goes at 90ish, dealer wasn't interested when I asked them to fix, told me to try re-blancing the wheels (watched the be balanced when fitted, problem was there before and after).

Been meaning to get the alignment checked, this might just make me do it.

I had this in my old car, had it balanced a few times before finally solving it with 4 new tyres and tracking. The alignment was badly out and the tyres were very worn on the inside, but fresh outside.

Moral of the story is get you alignment checked semi regularly, especially on poorly surfaced roads.

The vibration is most noticeable above 70, but haven't really pushed much further up the speed range over 100 due to roads...

As I said its booked back in on Thursday of next week so will see what they do with it then...

It's a right pain of a feeling because when it is vibrating it gives no confidence in the steering, almost feels loose when turning the wheel, plus as said earlier it does vibrate significantly more when turning on motorways at speed in either direction.

Defo balancing and tracking. Misses kerbed mine needing a new alloy. And from 90 up to 140. I'll say kmph incase any coppers reading it would shake. But got it tracked and rebalanced and is 100 times better.
