I have coded in video in motion on my seat Leon FR 2017 1.4 I could only view photo files on USB. I can’t seem to play videos on my phone through the USB only Apple CarPlay comes up and I tried a DVD in my CD player and nothing seems playing videos. Not even on the usb when i have videos on there. Just the audio playing

Any ideas to got videos playing

@oDx_Vortex; your country location flag is showing as Italy. The results from a quick internet search show that in-car video in motion is illegal in Italy if the screen showing the video is in the driver’s line of sight (it would be in in a 2017 Leon).

So if video in motion is illegal in your country, that may well explain why your car’s infotainment system doesn’t support it.

Sorry i had a VPN on im from the UK

In-car video in motion is also illegal in the UK if the screen showing the video is in the driver’s line of sight. It is also illegal for a driver to watch - or be able to see - video playback on a mobile device while they’re driving.

If stopped by the police, the driver would be prosecuted (a fine and / or points on licence). There might also be insurance implications too; e.g. the insurance company potentially invalidating the insurance cover, the driver having to declare the prosecution when applying for car insurance in future, possible increased premiums in future from having been prosecuted.

Try an internet search on ‘is watching in-car video in motion illegal in the uk?’ or similar search; not worth taking the risk IMHO. Please don’t think I’m preaching the moral high ground - I wouldn’t want to think a fellow forum member got themselves into difficulties from the distraction of watching video playback while driving.

More hassle than worth. Think it was tongue in cheek. Its a Seat Plus unit. Ive got one in mine but haven't enabled VIM (you'd get done by the police if they looked in).

Basically the resolution of the screen least in mib2 highs will only render SD / HD 720 video. So you'd have to convert full HD content to SD/ HD 720p. In the past where Ive seen it discussed people just look at videos whilst waiting for someone in the car, not driving. The resolution of the screen is shown in the manual and what it can play. The screens arent really designed for modern day video.

The supported standard for mib2 is this

– Maximum resolution 720 x 576 pixel and 25-30 fps
(frames per second).
– MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (.mpg, .mpeg, .m2ts, .avi
and .mkv) format with maximum resolution of 352x288
pixel.
– ISO MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v, .avi, .mov, .3gp and .mkv) for-
mat.
– MPEG-4 ASP DivX 4, 5 and 6 (.avi, .divx and .mkv) for-
mat.
– MPEG-4 Xvid (.avi and .mkv) format.
– MPEG-4 H.264 format: (.mp4, .m4v, .mov, .
3gp, .avi, .m2ts, .mkv, .flv, .f4v and .webm).
– Windows Media Video 9 (.wmv, .asf, .mp4, .m4v, .mov, .
3gp and .avi) format.
– MJPEG (.avi, .mov, .mp4 and .m4v) format.

Think I might have tried a video or still photo once and thought this is rubbish. That's 720p probably so all video needs to be converted into that I reckon then put into one of those file formats. Then you got the sound to sort out. That's the left table of the manual. In the infotainment manual of mib2. So a merry time transcoding video.

For those wanting to watch something whilst waiting for kids at the school or station etc easier to use the phone...

Or how about this for a novel approach; take a break from the tech - switch it off completely for a while 😮 and read a good old fashioned physical book while waiting. I much prefer to ditch the tech if I’m on - or waiting for - a train or plane, and read a good book 👍🙂.

Think people enable VIM just to be showey but it will cause an accident by distraction and is illegal in the UK to have moving video images although that car with a blank rear screen and video camera would be allowed. Rear view image .
