Accoring to the documentation for playable media types that Terramar can playback MP4 video files. Loaded some 1080P content onto a USB Flash drive (Sandisk USB C Flash drive ), these are minute - fits snuggly on one of the front USB ports and is virtually invisible.

The Media playback function is a curious thing - initially it looks like one's video files are just audio files and sound is all you are going to get however after a few minutes the screen springs into life with full-motion video - it is very impressive.

Presumably only when stationary and not while the car is being driven.

In the UK, video in motion is illegal if the screen displaying the video footage is in the driver’s line of sight while driving - if caught, can result in a prosecution and invalidate the driver’s insurance policy.

Think its for picking up the kids, waiting at the station etc. The mib2 high implementation gave you a lousy image but with advantages in screens you'd ecpect it to be equivalent to tablet screen these days. I seem to recall it was 720p. I tested it once.

As for video in motion, VIM, I use to see it in Japan, people watching live TV in the front of the car whilst driving. Disconcerting whilst waiting to cross the road seeing people drive past playing videos in the front of the car. Thankfully it's illegal here.

That facility was designed into infotainment units which could be toggled on by the manufacturer for the region where it was legal. There is not much chance of hobbyists doing that with the post 2020 or so Vag infotainment units as they clamped up on getting into the backend of recent infotainment units.
