Vinyl newbie, please help

Hi everyone. I got myself some hexis black vinyl to try and copy the larger looking front intake of the mk3 cupra:

I know it's only a tiny bit but I have no idea how to do it, my main concern is how you cut it to shape without doing your paintwork in.

Any advice or hints gratefully received.

Hi, ok basically you need
Heat gun,
Credit card or 3m scraper with felt edge ideally
Bottle of isoprophyl cleaning alcohol
Arts n crafts knife or stanley blade
new micro fibre cloth,

1. Clean whole car normally, then clean area or panel etc using the isoprophyl alcohol, getting in all grooves and hidden areas

2. Measure and cut vinyl to size

3. Remove backing and apply, try to create a flat, bubble free surface leaving edges.

4. Using heat gun on low setting gently heat and work the vinyl using 3m felted scraper ensuring vinyl is nicely applied no bubbles or lifting should occur

5. Use heat gun to fix edging apply force n heat for a good seal
Or you may have to heat, pull and stretch the vinyl around the edge of what you are wrapping

It sounds hard but its practice, once you learn the knack you can wrap anything, i have wrapped my whole leon previously which took 6 long days, didnt turn out 100% but was bout 3rd time wrapping.
I have pulled it all off now (gloss black) and carbon wrapped my roof, bonnet, boot, mirrors, door strips, door pillars, front and back badges, and my interior

There are plenty of vids on youtube just wach some and av a go mate

I will also add when pulling my wrap off it did pull laquer off in some areas, but i think it was down to the paint being 13 yrs old 2001 plate so upto you?

Thanks buddy. For measuring up do you think it easiest to just offer it up with the backing on and use a pencil to follow the shape then cut it out?

Not really you need to over lap whatever your wrapping as it can shrink when using heat but because your creating a shape then yes, looking at it your idea is more like a sticker, if there are curves on the inside you'll have to use heat for a flush seal, if u get me?
