1200, apparently that includes refurbing the alloys which is cheaper than splashing out for new alloys

You don't have to let the DVLA know as it's not classed as a permanent change. You do need to let your insurance company know though.

Apparently, vinyl wrapping is classed as a Temporary Colour Change by the DVLA so you don't need to advise them. Probably best to tell your insurance company though.

Search Google for 'Temporary Colour Change DVLA'.

Edit. ElasticTangent beat me to it! lol.

WOW! So I could wrap my car, go speeding around getting fines and then claim my plate was cloned? That doesn't seem right some how if I'm honest.

yeah but if u dont tell dvla and it gets nicked and coppers check on pnc and it comes up as silver and not blue as they drive past your car and could av got it back for you, you would be a bit gutted it happened to 1 of my stepdads work vans years ago it had colour change and dvla didnt know coppers were looking for a yellow escort van and it was actually blue they drove past it and wen they realised it was the van they were looking for because they could read the number plate by the time they had got turned round it was long gone

Seems a bit odd to me as well but that's the info that keeps popping up on the websites of companies that do vinyl wrapping. :)

It's definitely is right. My mate has has a Golf that is totally wrapped in matt white vinyl. V5C still states silver as it's colour and when he called DVLA they confirmed that they don't/won't change the colour on the V5C if it's not been resprayed as it's not permanent.
