I have a facelift model mk4 and im hoping to get the number plate sections on the front and back vinyl wrapped. can anyone tell me if i need to remove the bumpers to do this or is it as simple as just sticking it on?

Much appreciated

Hi I just did it today without the bumpers on, it's not that easy but definetly worth it in the end, only took an hour or so. I had a thread about this the other day, great minds !!!

I have both front and back done on mine and the back is easy apart from the exhaust cut out, all I did for the front was take the centre honey comb out. All done while the bumpers were on the car!

cool. read your thread ther mate. did you just remove the number plate and stick it straight on? any pics of the finished product?

Yeh I didn't even do the whole panel behind the number plate just the bits that stick out at the side, some fool stuck the number plate on the front with that foam sticker strip stuff soneas still on a bit when I was applying the vinyl, only in the middle tho so didn't affect the finished look. I will get some pics up soon, not sure if I can do it from an iPhone so will hve to wait till I can fervent lappy out

glad it worked out man. i think it makes a major improvement. just have to get some vinyl and give it a go myself. Did you get your vinyl from ebay?

stevo was it easy enough to do with the bumpers still on? Also did u do the bottom lip on the front too?

Happy days. so even if i bugger it up i wont be wasting too much money then. gonna see if i can order some tonight. do you have a reliable seller? also thinkin of doing it in a carbon fibre style wrap

This is the job half done, but you get the idea!!

I think it looks loads better personally. Got a few air bubbles in the corner on the bottom lip so might have to redo but still pretty pleased overall!

Heres what it started like:

4455-group was the name of the seller on eBay, came quickly in a cardboard tube and the stuff was good quality, would def recommend. Good luck with it I'd be interested in seeing pics when it's done.

Any chance of a finished pic of this. I'm about to wrap mine in carbon fibre vinyl. Just wanna see where you cut it.

Also what did you clean it with? Just soapy Water?

Yeh just soapy water, did it straight after cleaning the car, will get u a poc at the weekend, not got the car till then.

You could also pop out the chrome S if you take the grille off, it's tight getting it back in though

The front was easy enough with the bumper on but the back was a bit awkward due to the way it curves at the bottom, if I was doing it again I would just jack the rear up to give more room to fiddle about with the vinyl mate.
