Hi all

New guy here, had my mk3 FR for about 2 weeks and I've sorted out most of the niggles now (already seen a thread about moving pinned destinations to favourites, will be checking that out tomorrow! And as a lurker I was happy to see others get issues with their connected iPod always playing the same song on start up), but before going to the dealer about this I hope you guys can help.

I tried a forum search but most of the hits are about turning the above off...

I can't get voice notifications for nav to work? It's not something I want on, particularly, but before I'm happy with my understanding of the car I want to know how to turn it in and off.

I have: gone into the settings for navigation and made sure the volume is set to turn on, and also used voice control to turn them on (at which point I get a notification return that announcements have been turned on) yet even after both of these during a drive I don't get any notifications.

Does anyone have an idea why I'm not getting them?

Thanks guys.

Have you tried adjusting the volume up while the satnav is actually "speaking" a guidance direction? If you do this, you will notice that the information panel between the rev counter & speedo has a blue horizontal bar indicating the satnav spoken command volume setting. Adjusting the volume while the radio or media content are playing, will show the separate volume setting on the same panel with a red horizontal bar.

The simplest way to adjust the satnav volume (after ensuring spoken commands are enabled in the configuration menu) is to start route guidance to any destination on the satnav & then force the system to repeat the most recent spoken command by pressing the righthand rotary control knob below the satnav screen. While the command is being repeated, adjust the "blue" horizontal volume level (described above), using the lefthand rotary control knob below the satnav screen. If you don't adjust the satnav volume in time or wish to make further adjustments after the blue volume setting bar disappears, then just press the righthand rotary control knob again to make the satnav repeat the last spoken command again.

None of this will affect the separately adjustable radio & media volume setting.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a go.

I knew there was a separate volume control but thought that the hard menu setting would override the "in-time" adjustment. I didn't know how to repeat instruction so that will definitely make it easier to try out, cheers.

Boy do I feel like an idiot. What worked was asking the car to turn them off and then on again, flippantly out of frustration. Of course I had just assumed because they were off I didn't need to ask them to get turned off. Either way, thanks for the help. I couldn't get the blue bar but I figure they were actually off until I did off/on again so it wouldn't have anything to repeat.
