Hello everyone
I know the vr6 conversion is commonly done on mk2 ibizas but what would be involved in doing it to a mk3?
I am a mechanic and I have a lift and workshop at home
Iv built a 200hp cupra (silver)
I own and built a 300hp cupra R (red)
And I'm now looking for a new project, I was thinking about going jap but a Vr6 engine has become availible to me
And iv always wanted a blue mk3 cupra so if I get the right feedback ill be buyimg the engine and doing a mk3 v6cupra, probably supercharged since I also have a mini cooper s as a daily drive and feel that superchargers are the future, so please any info, links or experiance anyone has please share,
The engine mounts ect look very similer its the wiring ect n exhaust tunnel I'm concerned about, thank you

just had another look at the engine and gearbox still sitting in the corado and they are the exact same mounts, the front subframe is even the same part number so no doubt if it will fit but will it work?

Should drop right in. Hydraulic clutch on the Cupra so even easier and ECU sits in roughly the same place.
Id like to see an 3.6 in there ;)

tbh, i'd switch the whole car to 5-stud at the same time, more brake options.

can you use the whole engine on a rolling subframe, will the suspension line up?

Get a complete donor VR6 is the best option. Everything will mix and match one way or another.

should be easy enough to fit since most of the parts like the linkage, clutch, gearbox etc. only problem i can think of is fitting the engine far enough away from the radiator fans.

:D

and put up a build thread.

also, look at VR caddy vans, a few kicking about, and the cupra fronts fit them, so they must be similar chassis underneath.

Exactly. All 6k chassis along with the Polo Variant and Classic.

My old Polo, came as Cordoba Vario (different to Mk4 Polo)

I have the full corrado to play with as its being stripped to take an edition 30 2.0tfsi lol 360hp boosted, propper sleeper, would really love to do this vr6 cupra, think it really would be a handy project, but would there b a market for selling it one,

Could anybody honestly say they would go out and but a vr6 ibiza cupra over an 1.8t? And what would a machine be worth for example,

Full cupra kit, front n rear disc brakes, coilovers, 5 stud conversion, 2x bucket recliners, and prob some sort oof euro 15x9inch wheels?

Prob looking at a 4-5k build

alot of mk2 vr6's go for 1500 to 2000 depending on condition but only costs about 6-700 for all the running gear. mk3 might be 2000-2500.

its the noise of the vr6 that makes me want one. :p
