Been looking at the vw racing r600 intake, looks a good bit of kit and very stock looking,
Has anyone put this on there 280 yet? I was looking to add this to the revo stage 1 just looking
For thoughts and opinions as I've never gone down the remap route before.
im sure i read somewhere andrew is getting this intake very soon.i have also been looking at this but cant decide between the vwr and the apr intake if anybody has either of these intakes it would be good to get some feedback
What are peoples opinions on getting an intake like this without a remap? I'm guessing performance increase would be negligible, but it sound should better right?
I'm on a PCP, so wanted to avoid a remap until the warranty is out / own the car outright if possible.
Deffo wouldn't bother with an intake on a stock car and tbh ive herd the gains arnt that great at stage 1 with all intakes as the stock box is already decent.
Intercooler and exhaust will be the best mods for performance increase on these cars I reckon. 25+hp with the scorpion tbe on mine and with the heat these engines run at an ic should show nice gains.
Tbh Andrew, maybe be different on the larger turbo, but after installing my revo one i actually lost about 10bhp as the ecu was complaining about too much air...
Unremapped gains for the exhaust was 20bhp. And, admittedly mapped gains so unknown what they would be if unmapped, of the wagner fmic was again 20bhp. Its unlikely that a intake would develop that, but who is really going to get an intake and not a map honestly
Vbox times with an intake on a mapped car show around 1 to 2 tenths at best improvement to 100mph, so unless you've got some actual figures that show a better improvement Ill be given it a miss thanks.
Exhaust intercooler like I said above will make a big difference on these engines. Mine gained over 25hp on a stock car with just a tbe and an ic is in development for spring.
Maybe at stage 2 with the increased fuelling it may be worth it but theres no stage 2 maps out yet so ummers to that.
Ill be going with a Nortech cooler when its developed, the stuff they produce is of ridiculously high quality.
Well until theres gearbox software stage 2 will be pointless tbh. Ill be going with GAIC for both ecu and tcu software. I know stage 2 maps are finished but still working on s-tronic software which will be needed with stage 2. I have trouble with slip now with a map and exhaust especially when launching.
ahh the joys of simple manual bliss lol. Well i've never heard of nortech but that means nothing and always good to hear different names in the pot in terms tuning parts.
I was originally talking to the guy that's stock though Andrew. And for him an intake is pointless and the enclosed one is pretty quiet aswell so no difference there either.
Even stage 1 personally wouldn't bother over things to do first, intake last if at all for me.
