VOSA do spot checks on emissions levels.

If you fail, you need to re-sit an MOT and go to VOSA H/Q to get it signed that you now have a valid CAT.

yeah, done loads round here. But i dont use my car everyday now. Also the modified car schene is big round here and many web based clubs local to me so news of the locations of the spot checks travels very quickly and car can stay in-doors!

Got a decat fitted today, it has not made it any louder on idel and low revs, but its much more raspy at higher revs (think m3 stainless exhaust note - but a tad shitter obviously) and it revs more freely at the top end, will give it thorough thrashing over the weekend and report back on any performance enhancements (if any)

yes, I am pretty happy with it, not a huuge difference in power (i got a huge difference when fitting my cat back janspeed system) but its revs mnore freely and its definately more responsive at higher speeds and higher revs, when previously the cat could have been causing a bit of restriction. the motorway driving is better.

i've got a sports one on my Gti, and i'm very pleased with it, very good value for money, direct fit to, no alterations to be made

£300-£400 for a cat is BMW prices mate

I had a sports cat on mine and tbh what a waste of money I think..... decat was hell of a lot cheaper.

I still use the sports cat now for MOTs and it feels like it's holding back so much.
