Autocar First Drive Review of 2013 Leon

There is a review of the new Leon FR 10. TDi on the Autocar website now and it is extremely positive. They praise the engine, handling(!!) and interior. It is one of the most glowing SEAT reviews which I can remember reading.

Here is a link.

Edit. I have just noticed that there is also a review of the 'lesser' Leon 1.4 TSI here.

I imagine the Cupra estate will be quite a car. It should look good and there is not a lot of competition in that sector.

I really like the 7th photo in the Autocar 2.0 TDi review, showing the interior with the dials illuminated.

Yer, there have not been many images of the interior from SEAT, which surprised me.

It was one of the things that got a lot of criticism in the previous model. The new car does look to be an improvement in that area.

Look forward to having a closer look at them in due course.

Interesting quote:

Rabe, who has already driven test mules of the car, said the longer wheelbase and wider tracks of the new Leon made the new Cupra an even more dynamic proposition than the existing Cupra R. “The new Cupra is already more than a current Cupra R,” he said.

SEAT have now added the New Leon to their car configurator. :)

FR only comes in a 1.4TSI and 2.0TDI atm and once specced up decently you're looking at 22K for the 1.4???!!!! Will wait a few years and hopefully pick up the 1.8T at a lower price with the extras on I am looking for. Don't fancy spending that kind of money tbh.

The reviews of the FR TDi (181 bhp) in Autoexpress and Autocar are both very good, it's making me seriously consider one as my next car around April or May next year.

Apparently it is available to order from dealers now - anyone been in and enquired? I suppose the only problem is you can't actually test drive it! :(

Finally the tdi engine is growing :) and getting more powerful as standerd I wonder if they would also bring out a Cupra tdi :)

I see there is a review of the new Leon on Parkers' site now. They reckon it doesn't handle as well as the Ford Focus or BMW One Series. I was surprised by their comment that the engines are not as refined as VW Group stablemates. I thought they were more or less the same?
