You can call me a little bit chavvy, but I like the contrast if the dark grey and the red callipers myself. It's not exactly the same as painting some rear drums red is it lol?

Red growing on me when I look at this pic

Anyone that's already voted above, do so again now you can see it on my car with the correct colour wheels.

Based on the bottom photo, I am now going full circle and leaning towards red. The main reason is because I want to keep the subtlety it has now but still with a little bit of an edge. Although I like the other colours I think that they will just grab your attention compared to red and maybe too much, especially as red is what people are used to seeing, if that makes sense

Right finally decided, I bought the yellow and red hammerite smooth today and the yellow is just too much, so going to have to play it safe and go with red. Disappointing I know but hopefully will turn out ok.

Started painting yesterday took ages to get caliper clean enough to ensure paint would adhere properly.

To anyone that planning to do this, make sure you've got a 7mm allan key for the caliper bolts first, otherwise you'll lose half the day having to wait for someone to bring you one, like me

Literally just put the brush down with the first caliper so paint is still wet, as you can see I messed it up as caught it with my hand when it was starting to dry so now its got loads of drag marks, great. Hopefully will settle a bit over the next hour

I used wire wool and degreaser along with a tooth brush. Then took caliper apart to make sure all of it was clean and pads were out.

Having finished painting the caliper and waited several hours for it to dry, I took the caliper apart again whilst desperately trying not to damage it. I then greased and replaced the pads. Having done this i attempted to replace the spring clip, this is when it went horribly wrong. The clip is under such tension and fits in such a way that you really need to lever it in place. This makes it near on impossible to put back on without touching the paint, and took me about 15 attempts by which time my paint was 100% ruined, especially as the clip has to rest on it at both ends.

Only one caliper done so far due to other commitments and a complete disaster meaning I will have to wait for it to cure, rub down and touch up with the spring in place

It is hammerite smooth. They look quite rippled in the picture but its not actually like that its just light reflecting. I am a bit ocd so wont be able to leave them as they are
