One has to ask the question; if you're so fed up with your SEAT why bother going onto a website where, in the main, people are going on because they have a passion for SEATs?

Your'e not that far from us, feel free to bring it over, we'll have a look at it and put 20 years of SEAT experiance into trying to make you a happy owner again.

By the way, I was on the phone to SEAT marketing this morning and they confirmed it still stands for Formula Racing.

I was a member when I used to own a Mk3 1.4 which was spot on and I never really had any problems with, so it's not like I decided just to sign up and bitch about Seat being rubbish, it's just since owning my current Mk4 things haven't exactly gone smoothly.

But yeah, Formula Racing :)

I suspect the initials came first, then they thought about what they could stand for. What do the letters on any car's bootlid stand for?

Really? That's interesting to know, I always assumed that Cupra was just the Spanish word for tropy and had no meaning in English.

Nice one [B)]

It's also why they dropped Cupra R (as used in Mk1 Leon & Mk3 Ibiza)..........makes no sense really

Cup Racing Racing

Well that and every manufacturer and his dog from Honda to Jaguar b1tched about Seat using the 'R' badge :D

i remember the discussion threads at the time. but wasn't it the same "R" as in Golf "R"32 and Audi "R"s4/6 etc

subaru had a "type r" long before the civic came out!

It was more that the Civic and LCR were thought to be direct competitors at the time, less complaints from other manufacturers.

Not sure what Ford thought when Audi brought in the RS range etc

Cup in Spanish is Copa.
Trophy is trofeo

And if you need it in a CVH engine this stands for compound valve angle hemispherical combustion chamber head.[B)]:cartman:

With an Audi, the "RS" initials stand for RennSport (German).
