Ok guys as some of you might know I have a 1997 mk2 Ibiza TDi and a 1998 Cordoba Vario TDi

now both of these cars are the same sort of spec apart from the Cordoba has air con where the Ibiza doesn't.

Anyway I was playing around with the Ibiza and I have found in the passenger side wing something, its about a foot long and plugs into the wiring loom, you can see it when you take out the front passenger indicator, but when I check the Cordoba it doesn't have one, has anybody got any ideas what it could be?
many thanks.

humm don't think its anything like that it looks to be around 1" dia, and about 7" long, I will try and get a photo up.

things that are around that area would be, looms for extra sensors and guages like GTI spec cars such as air temp (behind a headlight) and oil temp, the vario might not nessecarily have these as it never came GTI spec. Fog light loom, etc

ok here are some photo's see if that helps

doesnt the srs/airbag system use all yellow wires/connectors like this.possibly the sensor that tells when ur having a big impact and fires the airbag and tensioner?

whatever it is it is connected to a coiled up thing that is also inside the wing ( you can just see it insde the wing to the right of the plug) i dont know what it does but it was also on the front of my 1988 mk2 golf 1300 and they are very basic so i have noooo idea but it is interesting:confused:

cheers, but if you look in the second photo you can see it is used, it is pluged into the long thing inside the wing.

When your car has the lights on the first setting, do the dip bulbs come on dimly? I think the long coiled thing is a resistor for the dim setting.

i dont know what it is, but on VW's they seem to use the same loom and if something doesnt go on the car you are left with rogue wires.

I have noticed that actually. Behind my window switches I have a blue connector plug which I think could be for electric mirrors. And I have a connector in my boot which doesnt go to anything. I think it could be for a boot light. I just need to get a boot light to give it a try.

Blue plug = cd changer wire ;)
