I just received my new clips. £1.80 each from main dealer. They literally just have a small rubber washer on probably be much cheaper to buy washers from a diy store or similar

I'm still trying to get my head round how it protects the paint finish as in my 1.4 FR I've had mine off for 6-7mths and have had no discolouration or heat build up whatsoever, probably due to my heavy right foot lol

The clips are 15mm in diameter and the washer is less than 1mm thick so something along those lines. Might be a good idea just to take a clip to the store or see if main dealer will actually sell you the washers only

Its more for noise than paint but anything keeping engine heat away from paint will add a little protection although it's unlikely to damage anyway

Finished painting the soundproofing now. Mine was particularly wet and therefore lost its neatness a bit. This made it more difficult to paint but got there in the end. Paint has dried quite well and I think will definitely help keep the water from soaking up

Do you know the part number for these clips? just checking they haven't changed from the above number before I order

Opened my bonnet this afternoon after cleaning the car and was disappointed that mine has got a fair bit of mould on it and is saturated in the middle and sagging. Went to remove to let it dry off a bit and oops I dropped the first clip down into the engine bay. Doh... So decided to leave the bonnet open for a while. Will need to replace it I think.

I don't know if it is going to help but i have started to open the bonnet for a few minutes after washing and if there's been a lot of rain to let the water out the back edge of the scuttle in hoping it will mean there's less water to drip on to the liner , tbh i forget most of the time though
