What screws required to fit an LCR Splitter?

Hey,

Just so inexperienced at all this! I have a splitter to fit, need the screws. Will any self tapping screws fit?

If I just walk into B&Q and find/ask for some self tapping screws, they will do?

Any other advice for splitter fitting, apart from the guide? :)

Make sure you plan what length screws you are going to use, make sure you have a drill bit for a pilot hole. Get come tape to tape it in place for screwing. I think you'll need to cut off the fixing lugs that fit into the LCR bumper.
AND make sure its straight;)

What's the normal for length of screws? What fits? My 306 had the holes already drilled in the bumper for it to be fitted - I'm guessing it's not the case with this (pity!).

shorter stubbier ones. (the plastic of the bumper you are drilling into is only 2-3mm thick. So add this to the thickness of the splitter itself and the self tapper probably only needs to be 10mm long to do the job, but these are hard to come by so 15-20 mm would be fine.

Many people fitted without pilot holes, this probably depends on the actual screw used and how agressive the taper is. Personally i used a pilot hole.
Spare pair of hands is handy with job when offering the splitter up to the car and taping in place. Take your time gettting the positoning correct. you only do it once then.

Also, go to your local hardware store to get the screws, they usually charge by the weight, i think i got 20 and it was 40p, whereas in B&Q yuohave to buy a bag of about 25,000 for 7 quid

oh and forgot to say.

be sensible with the numer of screws, enough so its secure, but dont go glueing it to the bumper also like someone did, as if the worst happens and you seriously ground it your better off the screws pulling out than the bumper breaking.
