what sections of vag com are used the most?

i was wondering what sections i would need to learn about to make the most of it?

whats used mostly as a convenience and whats used most to sort usual faults with an mk4 ibiza?

Depends on what you end up using it for, if you are actually fixing cars than you will most likely check for fault codes, check measuring blocks and log live data while some go even deeper and use output test as well as basic settings. If you are doing retrofits or changes, then coding and adaptation will be your friends...

is there a detailed guide availible anywhere on how to use it....ie what codes and where to change to modify the ecu.

id like to read this before i think about buying as then i can save money for if i dont actually need it
