What Tyres?

Ok the time has come that i need a new set of tyres, i have a couple of tyres in mind was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the kumho KU39 tyres the other tyres are the Falken FK452 which i have on them at the moment and was pleased with these, however ive heard good things about the kumhos so just wanted some advice.

Kuhmos are a solid tyre from what I've heard. I prefer Vredestein Ultracs (either Sessanta or Cento). I had these (Cento) put on my LCR last and they are superb, will be getting them again next time. Not silly price like Michilins or Contis either.

Kumho KU31's are excellent, but discontinued now, so supply is getting short.

Hankook V12 Evo are supposed to be good.

Hi ya cheers for the reply yer I heard the ku31 were good but like u said they are discontinued and can't find them so was thinking the ku39 might be of similar quality. However for the price the falkens seem to be the best value for money. Seen them on camskills for £67 a tyre very tmpting lol.

I've heard mixed reviews about falkans, a lot have said they are shocking in the wet, that's why I've steered clear, pardon the pun haha.

in the mid price segment, Falkens are great performer
still, you could give the Hankook Ventus Evo S1 a try, also the V12 is supposed to be a good allround performer.
alternatively check Vredestein and Kumho

I think people need to advise on how they come across the fact that a tyre is shocking in the wet tbh. If your not putting your car to the limits and not tracking it and tyou keep sensible stopping distances, i don't think you can go wrong with the 452. (imo)

There's a reason why Falken are 70 quid a tyre and Premiums are 100 quid plus, they're not as good it's that simple.
I suppose they are ok if you don't mind wondering if you're going to end up in a hedge when going round a bend.

Mate, that's a very profound statement that I'm sure a lot of people on here would disagree with. Mention a "what tyre thread" on SCN, 452's will always get a mention as they've been used with success by countless individuals that haven't ended up in a hedge!

But i suppose that depends if you want to drive like a nugget taking tight bends at 50mph in the wet. Then again I would personally blame that on the driver more than the tyre.

I've just put a sent of Michelin Primacy HP's on - was ideally after the Pilot Sport 3's but so far I am happy with the Primacy's

Not bad value at £75 a corner.

To be fair I hole heartedly disagree with his statement.
The same thing was said about my Ibiza Cupra Tyres.
I ended up getting toyo's @ £75 a corner and they were the best tyres I ever had, they lasted 13,000 miles and had helluva lot of abuse.

The tyres I have on that the moment (4 of them)
are made by "Mohawk" who are apparently Yokohama tyres.

To be fair their no T1R's but they've barely worn in about 8 months and they grip pretty well in the Dry and quite well in the wet. I've only lost traction flooring it in 1st and 2nd in wet conditions....

Mohawk are budget too!
T1R's used to be budget!

but yes, the standard is 225/45 R17

TBH I can't really advise on any tires other than the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's that come on LCR or Goodyear F1 Asymmetric. Out of these two - Pirelli every time. Would say that they wore slightly better but main reason for choice was lower road noise and drive comfort/handling. They seemed 'right' for the car where as the F1's felt bit harsh/hard side walls. Hard to explain but not sure if anyone else can agree with me on this?

I know others who swear by Conti's and have gone to Falken's with good feedback.

I'm interested to see if there are cheaper tires out there that people would recommend as at £120 each these ones don't come cheap but I always a strong believer in not going cheap on tires and brakes as these are the two last things between you stopping or not!

I have, Their Kumhos and they get pretty good ratings.

Hey guys, didn't want to start yet another thread on this subject so was wondering if anyone knew the best options for my new rims. Will be swapping my standard 17's on 225/45/R17 for some new 18x8 for the front and 18x9 on the rears, I'm guessing 225/40/R18 for the fronts but what about the rears, 245/40/18's? Appreciate it.

To be honest mate, i think myself and CJ know that a budget isnt going to stand up to a real performance tyre in a stopping challenge, thats fair enough, we all appreciate that, but on the other hand i dont agree with someone saying that if you buy a certain tyre you'll end up in a hedge, especially when their passing an opinion from hear say.

All im saying is dont dismiss the 452, i've found it to be spot on and i can say that from experience. I had to have 2 tyres recently and cant afford £120 + a corner, therefore i think falkens are a good, happy medium.
