What's that buzzing noise from the rear after switch off !

2007 Alhambra 140. When I turn the engine off there is a buzzing noise from the rear of the car which continues for about 2 minutes (i've timed it). This is coupled with the strong smell of derv fumes...Is this right??

yes, time to worry when it blows loads of smoke or doesnt work at all! its the aux heater fuel from the fuel tank and used to heat the coolant up to aid the heat output of the heaters and to help warm the engine up

Cheers for that, so no need to worry then. Its going in for its 20k service tomorrow anyway!

Just had it serviced and as usual paid through the nose for practically bugger all. They did check the auxhilary heater and the diagnostics came up with a fault which they then reset and cleared. They did say that if the problem reoccurs they will replace foc under warranty....watch this space

My '06 has/had the same noise and went in for its 30k service (at 28k) over Xmas ... they kept the car for a few days waiting for "service parts" for the heater ... so it looks like they need servicing every 1.5 to 2 years
